I grew up watching many horror films in the late 70's and early 80's. The seminal Night of the Living Dead, the superb Dawn of the Dead and Creepshow were three of the best ones that I can remember.

They would terrify back then, but I couldn't resist watching them.

Just looking at IMDB and found out that Martin Landau died a couple of days ago too :( RIP. He was incredible in Ed Wood. I remember him from Space 1999 as well.
