So the Shotton to Middlesbrough deal is done, but we won't sign it off until we have secured a replacement?

Interesting.

Maybe that has been said before, but if so I missed it.

Sounds like we've been offered some foreign centre backs too, which could be good. I reckon you can get slightly better value for money in Europe than the silly inflated English prices.

After seeing Samba's performance last night, that would be a "no thanks" from me.

Calling him a lumbering oaf would be a bit harsh on yer average lumbering oaf.

Very odd for our official website to do a piece on transfer activity and talk about players so openly

Complete contrast from the way we did the N'Doye deal too.

It is very much for the benefit of those in Bristol me thinks.

Talks openly about Flint, implies we have "other options" and throws the fact Shotton is ready to go and will be released when we have signed a replacement.

In other words, you've got a guy we want; he doesn't want to play for you, you've burned your bridges with him, pull your finger out or we'll move on, we have others to look at and if you are not careful you're gonna get lumbered with a p;d off player.

If Vetere and Dein are scouting France; Italy; Turkey etc won't take long to come up with a few nice options for far less than what Bristol think he's worth.

Bit about Bryan is interesting too, we asked, we offered, they said no, no means no so we'v moved on - thats a clear ultimatum re Flint!

The bit where he had the gall to ask the ref what the penalty was for was priceless.
She's playing with fire, he''s not ready for nibbly pig...

In fairness to Samba, once he had showcased his oafishness to everyone on the pitch, he was totally dominant in the air for the rest of the game. Every time a high ball went into the area, players from both teams ran away from the ball and left him to it. Even the ref permanently kept one eye on him in case he came through the back of him while blinded by the rain. Apparently, there was some discussion between the officials at half time about whether all the players should be issued with anti-Samba hard hats ;)

Judging by Harry's tone, there's plenty of backing from the owners. I'll be so shocked if we haven't got a superb squad by September.

Ah, reverse psychology.

Tried that a few years back.

It doesn't work.

My current method is "What's the worst that can happen?" Then if it doesn't, that's a bonus.

At present, the worst that can happen is that we don't sign anyone worth getting excited about, especially not a striker.

And that we get relegated by Easter.

Hopefully it'll be totally different to the Ipswich game. As long as we sit tight we'll be okay.
