Bob Latchfords Match Ratings

Bob Latchford
18:20, Saturday 12 August 2017
Stockale - 7 - a couple of dodgy kicks and one inexplicable moment where he tried to dribble past a striker aside, he was excellent from crosses, made a wonderous double save, and looked like the top class keeper he is
N'sue - 7 - was really poor for the goal - didn't make it anywhere near as hard enough for the forward as he should have, but he showed immense character, and drove the team forward to the end
Grounds - 6 - was the pick of a really poor defensive first half before he went off injured
Roberts - 6 - a terrible first half - looked like he'd never played football in his life, but was much improved second half
Morrison - 7- A nervy start, but absolutely monumental in the second half against a very dangerous opponent
Davis - 4 - Must have been injured / ill because he drifted around aimlessly, was always out of position, and didnt display his normal aggression
Gardner - 7 - Goals from midfield is still his main attribute - doesnt have the range of passing to control a game as demonstrated by some wayward passing - was better second half
N'Doye - 8 MOTM - First half he was good, second half he was imperious. An absolute beast - forget the armband, this guy is our leader
Maghoma - 8 - a wonderful run and strike to win the game, and a fantastic defensive shift to protect Robinson
Donaldson - 6 - started brightly, running in behind and holding up, but fell apart like an Ikea wardrobe in the second. His legs have gone
Adams - 6 - A couple of strong direct runs and a fierce shot in the first half that was well saved aside, he was quiet. Needs a partner

Robinson - 6 - Made a horrendous error that they somehow contrived to miss from, but after that his experience helped us over the line
Keef - 7 - the change of formation and his high energy and pressing wrestled the game back in our favour - never a red
Cotterill - 7 - An excellent half an hour or so, especially from a defensive perspective. Good to see the crowd react well to him

Agree with that

Only slight change is that I don't think Roberts played like he'd never played the game before in the 1st half, I'd say he just looked a bit nervy and uncomfortable at first, but he still did the basics and looked ok.

2nd half, he and Morrison looked like clones. Really good.

Thought Nsue was pretty poor, tbh. Seemed all over the place defensively in the first half, and massively lacks composure in the final third. Seems to constantly get the ball in great positions and then waste it.

You'll do for me Bob. Bristol are really good on the attack, I don't think we'll face an onslaught like that again for a while. Fantastic that we came through it with the points thumbs up

He cant cross and he was at fault for tge goal. But he played well 2nd half, linked up well with Cotterill, fair frw overlaps, driven runs and incise passing

Until the goal, Maghoma was absolute shit.

Different player after that though.

Harsh on Davis IMO.

Cotterill was excellent when he came on.

N'Doye I agree, the more the game wore on, the more imperious he looked, I think he will get better and better.

The ref today should never be allowed to take another game, he was shocking.

Davis was crap, as he has admitted on Twitter

He was just so listless and passive today, but he was ill with a virus so it's understandable

It does, and indicates the standards he sets of himself and we of him.

Ill with a virus, and still broke down a couple of their attacks and got stuck in.

Didn't look as enthused as normal, we know why now.

Comments are still harsh

Maghoma was not 'absolute shit' until the goal.

Absolutely stunningly inaccurate.

It's the old story of pre-conceptions clouding judgement

Maghoma was very good, even without the goal

Yeah, on reflection, it is.

Until the snap shot he blasted which the keeper saved. Changed him.

TBF, I thought for a while in the first half, most of the team didn't seem as sharp as they should, certainly until our goal

Bob, if we are going to speak about preconceptions, we should bring up your deciding Kush is shit and should be replaced with Ledgkins after one game, and continuing with that idea. Now back in your box, there's a good chap.

Don't start with the #fakenews just because you're getting called out on your ridiculous Maghoma opinions

Try watching him fairly on Tuesday without deciding he was crap before you take your seat, and report back and let me know how you get on thumbs up

Nope, you posted it Bob, cut the fake news crap.

If you can't live with that fair enough (you will probably deny apologising for being wrong after about 20 games too)

I will watch with an open mind (I do every game, including last Tuesday where he was poor, unlike you)

I'm looking forward to Tuesday already, because I think he will play further forward, if he plays as he finished the game, maybe we won't miss Che as much as we might fear.

His goal was a thing of beauty today, lovely.

Don't hijack a thread of positivity after a great win. Take your L over Maghoma like a grown up, and stop bringing everyone down

Gleeson ..2 .... contributed nothing and was needlessly booked in the second half
Southside Blue , not only keeping the blues alive but also singlehandedly saving the British Manufacturing Industry .
