Boring. Nothing there go somewhere else instead. Nothing much there once you're off the resorts.

My Mrs daughter was there for 8 weeks last year doing Turtle conservation.

She said there was little to do in the towns and overall was unimpressed with the place. Saying that she wasn't stopping at a holiday resort with the luxuries of fine dining, pools etc.

She did 8 weeks the previous year in Costa Rica and said it was the dogs!!!

This is true, went last year. Hotel was fine, so was beach / pool, but away from the hotel its just barren and a mess.

Went to a Melia place in Sal last year which was pretty decent. Few bars in the main town and stuff but not a lot to go see apart from Salt plains. Landing is like arriving at Mars. Would recommend the Melia hotels on Sal though. Nani the ex Man Utd player was at the same resort as me.

Stayed on Boa Vista for 2 weeks. Plane landed just behind hotel. About a mile on coach to hotel on one of the few roads on the island. Nothing to do apart from Quad biking and sea activities. No towns or infrastructure. Mind you it was 6 years ago. It's the roughest sea I've ever been in anywhere on my travels. I'm a decent swimmer, but it was scary. Several people got broken limbs whilst we were there tom the waves.
One of the other islands might be better. Didn't realise it was only about 3 hours from Brazil till I got there.

Boa Vista. A Godforsaken windswept barren sand dune with bugger all to do. Stuck in a resort that served only unbranded low alcohol booze like liquid. The worst Christmas and the longest 7 days of my life.
