Mark Roberts excelled? Did he? I thought he was poor positionally and was actually one of our worst players - most had a poor game but no way he was our star player imo

He was a shambles from start to end, his partner was barely better, and if the keeper wasn’t two stone overweight he might have got to the 2nd

H-Bomb's match ratings

GMZA replying to Birmingham Mail
16:43, Sunday 11 February 2018
Stockdale- Some ropey kicking today invited some pressure onto us when we needed to try and hold possession. Used too often for passbacks. Good tip over the bar and not overly tested. Not his best- 6.

Jenkinson- Looked rusty and beaten too easily at times out wide. Given time he will be ok but today showed we will miss Grounds. Offered little going forward- 5.

Roberts- The best of the back two today for a change. Actually pretty good really given the scoreline, made one superb tackle in the first half to prevent a certain goal. Such limited distribution again dissapoints- 7. Blues MOTM.

Dean- Joe Harted himself, far too wound up to compete properly and it showed with sloppy touches and misplaced passes. Poor by his standards- 5

Colin- Wasted at left back and his extreme one footedness showed today. On this showing we'll be ok in that position but limited compared to Grounds. Got forward well but struggled when ran at - 6

Kieftenbeld- Awful today, truly awful. When he was out muscled by that cretinous ponce Grealish I knew he was in trouble. A very limited footballer gets by on their physical side of the game, he didnt deliver on ant front today. His worst game for ages- 4.

N'Doye- The fella is an enigma. He occasionally does some excellent stuff, a couple of good wide passes today and interceptions/tackles. Fantastic accidental stamp on Grealish too. However the amount of time he needs was alarming apparent today and was clearly targeted by Bruce who wouldn't allow him to settle. One of the few players we have to be scared of in terms of presence, unfortunately he puts just as much fear into Blues fans when he got the ball. Poor in a dreadful midfield today, stupidly sent off- 5.

Davis- Didn't get particularly involved but did show some smart touches/moves on occasion. A high energy player who thrives on a pressing game, nullified by villa who wouldn't even allow us to press today. Best of the middle three but not saying much- 7

Maghoma- Poor today and surely not fit? Ran fairly well on occasion and made a nuisance without offering any of the penetration or menace we've seen since Christmas - 5.5

Boga- Our biggest threat but with absolutely no end product today. He picks the ball up a man and loses the ball a boy, his experience regresses when it's time to make the killer pass. Decision making poor. Wasted as much as he created but was very willing and a bright spot in a drab day- 6.5

Gallagher- On the rare occasion he saw the ball he looked good. Ran well with the ball on several occasions and was unlucky with a great strike after robbing Terry. Should have done better with the rebound. Fairly anonymous through no fault of his own- 6

Subs- Jota/Adams- literally didn't see them do a thing. No rating.

Cogterill- Got the subs incredibly wrong today by not introducing Gardner and waiting far too long to address the lack of control we had on the game. Up against a better standard of opposition to recent weeks but didn't help himself- 5

Cheers all.
We deserve our club back

That’ll do.

Bruce knew to crowd the midfield and give our limited players no time on the ball.

Nearly spot on but I thought Stockdale's kicking was possibly due to the terrible quality of back passes he was getting, dropped him in it a few times

Terrible pitch more like, their keeper also struggled. Spent their budget on players, nothing left for grass seed or groundsmen.
Thanks for keeping us up, Harry.

I didn’t think any of our players played well. None deserved more than 6, and NDoye; Boga; Kief; Jenks were all 5 at most.

In contrast, most of the DVBs played well, particularly in the last 30 mins, when we collapsed as usual. Grealish was made to look better than he is cos he was allowed the freedom of the park.

Did our manager forget to do his homework? Or is he so poor that no amount of prep will compensate? Great decision to dismiss the Huddersfield replay, on the evidence of today.

Also they did not press when we had the ball at the back. That's because they didn't want to stretch their play and give our midfield players more room. Better to sit back, close down space in the channels, wait for the short ball to our Midfield players and take it off them. Which they did time and time again.

Harsh on Kieftenbeld, he's had to drag TV cameras and Blues TV around Brum all week for a feature so didn't have time to train. thumbs up

:D

The heart of the team was so poor today. Kief and N'Doye did as they always do, work hard, look tough and try to impose themselves on the opposition. Davis carrying an injury, Maghoma not fit, it seemed, and Jenkinson not match fit, after so much time out, weakened us too.

very good, but got to mark Maghoma ahead of Boga as he put sam in for shot that hit post, and he got two shots on goal (both weak as pish I know) wheras Boga got none! (his decision making is playground level)
