Chelsea fan at work (proper one, not a plastic) reckons the only reason Chelsea would do this is if they thought they could sell him on for upwards of £40m?

Chelsea have a history of this. Quite canny at times in the transfer market.

I wouldn't have thought he would fit into the Chelsea model though, he's a bit old.

Usually they have younger player - send them out several times on paid loans, and then release / sell them.

Maybe Hazard is leaving and they need someone to fill the "falling over any time anybody looks at them role"

Whoever went down the registry office to register Corey Josiah Paul Blackett-Taylor's birth obviously had too much time on their hands that day...

The image rights on his name would make him a fortune alone.

Interesting SB was saying he wanted to keep Hutton and the club had already told the League it seems he was being released B)

How will they increase his value to upwards of £40m?

Of all the teams in the Premier League, they are notoriously bad for not utilising young players.

They paid £15mil for Ross Barkley. There isn't a chance that they're gonna pay over double that amount for that greasy tw*t.

I would hazard a guess that a lot of the speculation re Grealish and the fanciful numbers is agent and club led

The Express and Star understands it will all be fine, villa are actually rolling in money.

I saw figures like 30-40mil banded about before his links to Chelsea. Dim Sherwood even said when he was there, that they "wouldn't sell him for £60million". I must be missing something, as I fail to see where these inflated figures come from. The kid is comfortable with the ball but his end product isn't great.

James Maddison is younger (21) and racked up 14 goals and 8 assists last season, in an average Norwich team. A few months ago, he had created more chances than any player in the 'Top 5 European leagues'. Some of the figures banded around for him are less than £15mil.

The hype from Sky Sports whenever the little Villa weasel plays, has got a lot to answer for.

I just don’t buy it. Chelsea do have a financial system buying young players and selling for profit, but you’re talking an £8m purchase to sell at £10-12m, perhaps £20m if he does well. £30m is far too great a risk. If he turns into a mediocre prem player (he currently isn’t even at that level), then they couldn’t hope to recoup that £30m. Indeed, the only way they turn a profit on £30m is if he goes straight into the first team and becomes top class, which discounts any nonsense of him spending a year on loan at championship villa (by which time he’d return at 23). As someone else said, they only spent £15m on Barkley, a premium league player with England caps.

This is villa putting out sh!te to diminish the hit they’ll take on him. Last week he was going for £40m and already it’s dropped by 10 and still no one has actually made an offer. He’ll go for £15m tops, maybe with some add ons - especially when you consider they’ll want the money up front.

And to say his end product isn't great is a masterful understatement. It's absolutely crap.

If he starts to produce end product to go with the talent, he will be worth money. Alternatively he could land himself a contract where he gets paid by the dive and become a trillionaire.

Agree with this. It’s hard to be objective, but a £30m championship player should surely have the pedigree to inspire his side to scoring more than a solitary, measley goal in three play off games.
Sun saying £15m from Spurs:

Or the Brum mail, via “teamtalk” reporting £30m Chelsea.

So I’ll say £10m Everton.

And not helped his team to 0 points in his last 16 Premier League games.

You'd want the finished article for over 20m not potential. Vile rags spouting bullshit. They're totally skint Bruce is probably glad they sold off the pie stand

The League has confirmed they're talking to Vile

“The EFL is in dialogue with the Club and will offer any practical assistance, where appropriate.”

Most practical thing they can do is tell them they're a bunch of skint pricks, and as they can't guarantee they'll be able to complete next season, kick them out before the fixtures are released next week.

I know, I was being facetious.

Grealish needs to stop the diving and start adding some end product.

Hazard is all you say but...despite his exquisite balance, he is a diver. He could do with packing that in as well.
