Second team, third team?

What is this madness???
Guess its like preferring bacon for breakfast but faced with no bacon you might indulge in a sausage sandwich or scrambled eggs on toast instead??

Hmmmm I’m not convinced.

I think it’s more than that.

I mean where does a second team end ??? Vile??

Had a few bits from there Des.

Swan Golf was another one, had a good stock of Diamond Pringles.

Olton golf course shop for Pringle jumpers ;)

What was that sports shop in Coventry that knocked spots off any other sports shop? They had all the latest gear in there. You had to watch your back when you came out with your new found gear as the Cov lads would mug you on the way back to the station.
Willmots on the Stratford road in Hall Green, was a decent sports shop.

Not sure it was much of a sports shop but used to go to Barry Brookes in Northfield as a lad. He was a celebrated angler in local circles and was often featured in the Sports Argus. Seemed to remember most of my visits were to buy Subbuteo teams!

Think he had a shop in Lichfield didn’t he?
For those of us of a certain vintage who had a predilection for good tennis clobber in the early 80’s...... it was slim pickings in Brum. I vaguely remember McCoys (in Sutton? North of city anyway). There was a place near Robin Hood island that had some decent gear, buggered if I can remember the name of it. In those days I’d venture to Hurly Sports in Manchester and Lilliwhites in London ....and a couple of times even to Germany.

I remember my first visit to McCoys was pleasant enough but about a year or so later it was a different story. Total paranoia from the staff. I believe some Blues scallwags had been liberating gear from the shop without paying for it.

His and hers, Swan market

:D

Just where the cereal isle is now in Tesco.
In about 1992 I picked up a St Etienne, Santos and Napoli shirt plus one other I think for a tenner from the SportsCo in Chelmsley Wood B) it may have actually been called Apollo Sports.

Now that is cool.

Think they were sponsored by Casino, Coca Cola and Mars respectively. Think judging by the last two the game has been commercial for a lot longer than most think.
Cant think of the one around Robin Hood island, the one i mentioned before was Willmotts, but that is a bit further down the stratford road.

My local shop as a kid. Would always order in my boots.
The golf shop by Jacks chippy in Hall Green. Some lovely Pringle and L & S gear, which with a coat hanger and a well placed rail fitted nicely through the letter box
