Listening to the radio today when on came Penny lane by the Beatles.

As it's Paul McCartney love song to his Liverpool neighborhood and early years, it got me thinking about songs written by the artist regarding their neighbourhood.

Liverpool has plenty including the above, ferry across the Mersey, strawberry Fields ect.

London has Waterloo sunset, hoover building, streets of London ect.

Newcastle - fog on the Tyne, big River ( Jimmy Nails beautiful song) ect

Manchester - dirty old town, other shit..

Even the baldy ginger fella sings about wetting his pants near a castle on the hill!

I could go on

What has Birmingham or the black country got from their artists over the years??!

I can't think of anything.

Ghost town was about Coventry and take me back home by Slade could have been anywhere.

The closest I have come is Clifford T Ward mentioning worcestershire.

Any one got anything else?
Birmingham Blues - ELO

Close thread it's pointless.
Steel Pulse- Handsworth Revolution

Any song by Jaykae as he always mentions Small Heath
Fat Buddha - 'Rab C Nesbitt. He's a contrary fecker, but invariably right. He has his finger on the motherfecking pulse.'
Chelmsley Wood gets a mention in ‘Rough Rider’ by the Beat.
Moseley Shoals - Ocean Colour Scene

Hawkwind - Motorway City
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama has the line, ‘.....in Birmingham they love the governor’. 😎
Penny Lane makes me think Kate Hudson in Almost Famous. 😍
PWEI - Black Country Chainstore Massacre
I suppose Spacemen 3's "Big City" counts as well.
Didn't know that. Wasn't about their home town of Rugby then?

Wasn't Moseley shoals and Handsworth revolution just album titles?

But all the others are either LP tracks or minor songs so where are our songs that are well known out there??

I wondered if blackberry way was a local road to Carl Wayne and co but I think it was about something totally different.
