Not surprisingly they loved TF at Detroit and the fans launched a campaign to get him back after his initial 2-year deal was up, but to no avail.

It's true that in the first place Blues agreed to let him go in the close-season because he was becoming 'restless' and wanted more than what Blues could provide, in footballing opportunities as well as cash.

Whether he would have had such itchy feet if he had gained England recognition sooner than he did, we'll never know. He certainly should have played for England from about the age of 18.

Lots of us went down to Wembley for that debut - the result was a disappointment, but seeing Trev in his first game, plus the greats of that Dutch team made it well worth the trip!
