R.I.P Fred, before my time but a decent player by all accounts
Shame. One of my first idols. Was there v Chelsea. RIP Fred
I Remember that goal against Chelsea- a stooping header if I recall right. In those days Fred, Barry bridges, and Geoff vowden scored for fun!
God bless him
His performance in the wba semi final stands as one of the finest (and possibly the unluckiest) blues forward displays. He was magnificent that day. RIP Fred,
One of my all time favourite Blues players.A complete centre forward.
up the whites.
what was wrong back then? Sky ruining it and making us play in our away/3rd/tournament kit ffs.

This is the first forward line I can remember (I was ten years old)
Rest in peace big Fred.
The forward line of my youth too. Their names were amongst others lovingly embroidered on my knitted blue and white scarf.
RIP Fred. 😢
Antonio GramsciI loved Fred Pickering. He was immense.
Truely great player RIP.
Great touch for a big centre forward, very classy.
Until about 1973, where there was a colour clash in the Cup, both teams changed colours. There were a couple of occasions when Vile borrowed our shirts. There’s colournfootage of us in white against Huddersfield in yellow.
When we played Chelsea in the thirties we both wore striped kits.
RIP big man.
