why not?

Because it wasn't in this country over Christmas.

Unless you were in direct contact with someone from Wuhan who'd been to that market, it's not possible. The first cases in China were identified on Boxing Day.

If the number of people who claim to have had the virus on here actually did have, Birmingham would have had a huge outbreak and many deaths some time ago.

This virus is both far more contagious, and by some degree deadlier, than the rather nasty bug that was knocking about around Christmas - which incidentally both my wife and I caught and were pretty ill with for a number of weeks. It nearly killed 2 close friends, who had terrible pneumonia but managed to pull through. One, just about. They’re both pretty worried just now, as you can imagine.

Hope all are well.

Woke up this morning and couldn't taste/smell my tea or sausage sandwich.

No cough or fever though so hopefully it's nothing.

Not like I can go anywhere anyway.

Bizarre isn't it.

As usual though, people know better than the experts.

Is it unfeasible? Just because it wasn’t found in China until Boxing Day why can’t it have existed before then?

Genuine question.

I had 7 weeks of it November to January. December was a write off, spent most of it in bed.

It was a different virus. Less deadly, less contagious. It seems pretty sensible to me that we should try to understand what we are facing. This is, unfortunately, something far more virulent.

Zlammer - all are well, so far, thanks. The next two-three weeks will be very rough.

Because it’s a novel virus - which means a new one, something that had never existed in humans before.

It’s also why it’s so dangerous, cos no one has immunity to it

And again the Russians seem to taking this very lightly, At this moment I wouldn't trust a Russian as far as I could throw them, Still somethings not right and I will stick to this!!

You wouldn’t necessarily know. If it’s spread as easily as we are being told, you might have sat next to someone whilst having a coffee and simply wouldn’t know

yes we effing would!!!! we wouldnt have waited until the end of march (ie 3 months!!!) for the pandemic to reach the uk if you'd had it at christmas!!!

no-one in the UK had it at christmas. there were loads of shitty viruses around this year (partially due to the warm wet weather we had as opposed to cold) yet there weren't hundreds of vulnerable people dying from an unknown disease.
