Bela our a peach of a cross along the six yard box for Juke, Juke went near post, but the cross was brilliant

Thanks, I will do πŸ‘

While I'm here I'll also add... Friend is not a left back. I dont remember seeing him succesfully make a forward pass, or a throw in for that matter. He's probably one of the most awkward footballers I've ever seen.

It may be fair enough that he possesses leadership qualities and has the ability to organize the defence, but full backs are important attacking features in the modern game...Pederson isnt amazing at going forward but is there any reason Friend was chosen over him?

I think Friend's distribution was pretty poor tonight. I know what you mean about looking awkward but he's looked better at centre half than at left back.

I'm not saying it's going to solve all our problems, but our best chances tonight came from crosses into the box - so maybe we should maximise our opportunities to do that

+ we definitely dont have the quality in the middle to play like the teams on MOTD imo 😝

That's true, did forget that one

But that had nothing to do with an overlapping fullback, and kind of backs up my point that we should be trying to get to the byline to make the cross, not cutting inside
00:28, Sat 21 Nov
I agree, he's okay at CB where he can play a simple pass to the fullbacks or CMs - he doesnt have ability to play any progressive passes IMO

Not faulting his effort at all btw, just dont think we're gonna get anywhere with him at LB

Stokey Blues
In fact, the one comparison between Wee Aitor Krankie and a former Blues manager is with our old chum, Wurzel. He'd never play a winger with Jukey, leading to Jukey never scoring. Come to think of it, I preferred watching the Blues under Wurzel than Krankie. At least Wurzel's clownish, buffoon-like efforts had a comedic value. We are in the entertainment business, after all!

don't talk such fecking nonsense. if you'd said Clark's "clownish, buffoon-like efforts had a comedic value", i'd have believed it. Cotterill was just as, if not more turgid than this under Karanka, only we also couldn't defend and lost every game two nil.

you're either a viler or fecking barmy, and given 90 posts since February, im pretty sure i know which

Another thing I haven't seen mentioned much, where was Gary Gardner!?

Was one of our better players prior to lockdown. Now, he can't even get a look-in coming off the bench?

i understand him not starting, i prefer both Sunjic and San Jose.

i cna only imagine Gardner will start a few of the games between now and christmas, San Jose isn't getting any younger, he probably needs using at least somewhat sparingly.

the problem for Gardner is that Clayton will be looking to get there too, and Clayton is a Karanka signing.

I don't disagree and I also think that Sunjic and MSJ are better footballers.

But Gardner has great energy and he was in form before the break. He played 90 minutes against Bournemouth, even did 45 minutes on the wing.

But now he's not fancied at all, not even as a sub when Sunjic weren't having the best game and MSJ was looking pretty tired.

Anyone got an update on the condition of the post after Juke nutted it?
Tell you what that crack is really moreish.

I feel like we are repeating the same mistake under AK that have been made by so many of our managers over the last decade: not knowing what our strongest team is.

It was mentioned pre game that he chops and changes too much and this would be okay if it works. But right now it isn't working. We look just as inconsistent as those team changes.

Beyond trying to keep things tight, which is a great starting point, I can't see what were trying to do. And TBH, I'm not even sure the defensive side is that good. It's a marked improvement from Pep but we conceded 5 in 2 before the break and Coventry were getting in behind so easily. A better team would have scored last night.

AK needs to settle on something IMO. We've got good players that are capable of creating and scoring. We're not as bad as we appear.

Strange that imo,
The only midfielder that looks like he's got goals in him, maybe he's saving him for Luton

Anyone else baffled at how a striker got MOTM in a 0-0 and his only shot was with his chin?

Yep that was a joke decision from whoever that boring chunt of a Sky co-commentator is.
Bela was better than recent games first 45. McGree also.
Juke won't be happy with any of those wasted opportunities - poor from the big man. But we know he'll do better.
Thought that Harlee Dean was MOTM ( after he and Friend had sorted out how to prevent Cov exploiting the channel between them ).
Friend had one of those games which he'll want to forget, under par.
Clean sheet and a point is ok but we should have won it, were the better side overall.
Luton Tuesday will be another tight affair. Currently identical goals scored and conceded ( Luton one game less ).

It's gonna be a slower process than some can obviously handle.
2 and a bit months and the towel has been thrown in.... they're entitled to their opinion but I'll hang on in there for a good while yet.

It's disappointing that people are already giving Karanka grief, with one or two actually writing him off.
Surely they realised what Karanka was gonna sort out first and foremost and then build from there.
It was never gonna be pretty and converting the odd chance we create is crucial - that didn't happen but
no-one's gonna crucify Juke for that.

Stick with 'em ! Keep right on !

It’s going to be very hard to settle on the same team as there are so many games.

Back to the 4-2-3-1 tonight, was clear AK wanted to make sure we kept a clean sheet first and foremost.

Frustrating not to win, it was boring but realistically we should have won the game on balance of chances created.

If we win that 1-0 everyone is happy.

Karanka needs time, not 11 games or whatever it has been. This is a HUGE job. There is clearly a strategy and I doubt we will see the fruits of any attacking evolution until the second half of the season or maybe next season when we have better quality in the 10 and upfront to be honest.

The rapid fixture programme makes it really difficult to keep playing the same 11, as much as we'd all like to see that.
