Suggest you read the context of my post again and maybe try a little harder to understand the nuances here.
We can exchange stats for ever, this is about Hogans performances over this season particularly and most of last.
I sim0ly cannot see any reason why he starts given our options and his form.
Past glories, and all that

I can answer that.
Quite simply because they've not got any credible alternatives.
That's on the club though.
My Blue HeavenIs his job not to create space for others?
Nine touches isn’t a lot completely agree but bar stansfield who was played behind due to Anderson going off and dembele being unfit, the alternative is juke
Stansfield was not “played behind” because Anderson went off, he was “played behind” to facilitate Hogans return as JE hadn’t got the balls/heart/sense to play Stansfield as a number nine despite him being head and shoulders above anything Hogan has ever offered in that position. And nine touches is about par for Hoganonymous too
My Blue HeavenIt’s at the stage now when ever hogan misses a chance there’s an overreaction and people seem to be waiting for it. Not many strikers at this level would score loads of goals when starved of service, yes he’s not clinical we all get that and don’t need reminding of it every day
See, this wilfully avoids the fact that Hogan does NOTHING to affect the game. He barely touches the ball.
Stansfield in the 9 role against Preston had 36 touches
Hogan in 19 minutes against Preston and 70 last night touched the ball 11.
He’s a passenger. Which is fine if he pops up with a goal every other game but he’s scored 1 in 11 months from open play
Is that really true, both his goals this season were in open play weren’t they?
There was a point in the game last night which really annoyed me with Hogan.
The ball was played through to him, left side of the box, defender giving him nowhere to go, no immediate support from our players. Instead of taking a touch to his left, holding it up for a few seconds and laying it off. He decided to immediately poke it inside with the outside of his right boot allowing the ball to roll comfortably into the keepers arms.
It's those little scenarios which prove he doesn't suit this system or just isn't good enough for it.
I'm not a "Hogan hater" by any means but I'm really struggling to see what he offers. Any striker with legs can make the type of runs that he does.
Bluesince62Let’s not be that harsh and compare Hogan to that farceMy Blue HeavenIt’s at the stage now when ever hogan misses a chance there’s an overreaction and people seem to be waiting for it. Yeah, I agree with you. I think there should be a separate Hogan/VAR board 😁
Agree with every word...no sensible person "hates" Hogan. His time is up now though

Don't let the truth get in the way of a story.
