Like the way we are trying to play good football , the results will come as long we don’t panic and start hoofing again
Building from the back yesterday was a joy to watch and it’s something I’m been wanting to see for a long time
Stansfield for hogan is a definite as we have plenty of options in midfield
Passing across the box was giving me heart palpitations but agree is better to try and build from the back, I think we'll adapt it based on the opposition.

Spot on mate. All the supporters talking about promotion are deluded. You can already see the improvement from last season,so,lets just enjoy this season with not too many expectations knowing, the future is bright.I'm not giving up on Hogan though.
No building from the back for me, I detest watching England play, advance down the wing, pass back to halfway line then full back then keeper to other full back and so on. I want 11 giants playing Charles Hughes direct football with zero passing across our own box.
That sound like the bloke in the GML last night who was constantly shouting "FORWARD" when we were trying to pass the ball to another player in a blue shirt at the back.

I suspect you are being sarcastic.
However, the problem with England is not so much the way they play, because they have the players to play that way, it’s how slow the build up is. It makes it much easier to defend against. They need to move the ball much quicker. They are all capable players.

I think you could say the same about Blues. We need to move the ball quicker and we need more movement in midfield.

we were moving it perfectly fine with Anderson on the pitch
as soon as he went off, we'd shift the ball to Buchanan and he would look for Anderson and find whoever was on the left at that point 20 yards higher up the pitch
our way out of defence was that ball from Buchanan into Anderson and then he'd lay it off and we would build, injury killed our gameplan as giving Burke the ball facing his own goal is a recipe for disaster

Which is quite simple football. We’re not a team trying to over do it at all regardless of what others are trying to imply.
Some would want us to go 442, go long with Juke up front and win the scraps. It still wouldn’t gain any more better results the same as the 18/19 when we were apparently incredible under Monk. Bottom half finish that was I seem to remember. Turgid mostly too. The Gardner hook.
Ultimately we need better in about 4 or 5 positions. Mostly in wide and forward areas. That should hopefully change next summer. From there whatever John 'DvB' Useless wants us to be should then come into fruition. It’ll be his team then.

I don't think anybody wants us to play that way. It's also not how we played under Monk.

It is. Press early , hopefully Knick a goal and sit in. Not pretty. Effective folk say. got us 14th wasn’t it.

I remember us at our 'best' playing a diamond 442 with Jota at the top. Mainly it was a flat 442 with Mags on the left and Jota on the right with Kieftenbeld and Davis centrally. May have varied away from that at times but mostly it was that sort of team and set up. Monk kept it simple. I'll give him that. It was very very simple. Simple enough to finish in the lower half.
We didnt have the players then, well apart from Adams, and we still dont have the players now to compete at the top of the league but I know I would prefer us to be a little less agricultural when it comes to how we are set up, where-ever you are in the league.
We need more quality in all areas of the team but especially in attack. Summer 2024 will be the time it finally arrives.
