Obviously super early days, but it's so important we figure out what to do with them both on the pitch. I'm not sure tonight was the answer.
If anything makes me just a tiny bit nervous, it's this.
I agree. I thought May did his best on the wing, but Stansfield was pretty anonymous. For the fee he commanded, you expect more don’t you. Hopefully it’ll come good.
My thought originally is it should be one or the other. Or if the right winger is basically playing as an inside striker it should be Stansfield but that would require Laird to be playing.
Don’t think tonight’s set up is an answer.

I think that's a little unfair, as we know exactly what he can do at first hand. His service was non-existent tonight, but I'm not convinced that Alfie May should be out wide.
I wasn't knocking either of them, just the system itself.
For me, you have to keep May doing exactly what he's been doing. Shifting May out to cater for Stansfield seems very wrong.
Yeah I get your point; and obviously it’s only his first game back in a new system, but I did think he’d have more of an impact in a team playing better football. However we don’t seem to use the middle very much, all our build up play comes down the wings, and often comes to nothing.

Not just wrong…. Bloody stupid
May was lively, but I think Stansfield would have been more dangerous in that attacking right position May occupied in the final 20 mins.
I felt some of the balls bouncing around the box or hit across the six yard box would have fallen to May if he was more central.
Stansfield has a quicker turn of pace and his final ball is better.
Love May, but he was a bit greedy at times. Wouldn't want to take that away from his game though.
Good to experiment in a lower stakes game.

He will, I'm sure, but tonight was a game of no service at all for him. He'll be very, very good for us, I've no doubt.

May came on really strong in the inside right position after Wright went off. The opposition were already knackered and sat back by then.
The issue is before that. How do you utilise them effectively and bring them into play more often. Stansfield couldn't be reached at all first half.
Shame he didn’t bury that chance early doors. Could have been a very different night. We journey on….,,
I was surprised Stansfield went up front with May dropping deeper and going out wide. I'd have thought it would be the other way around.
I think May has to be the forward, Stansfield the No10.

Yep. All day long. I assumed that's what would happen.
I don't like May out wide, doesn't make sense. But my little worry is, regardless of who is the central striker, we are struggling to make real clear cut chances.
In a mad way, I wouldn't be too unhappy drawing games, if we were creating several clear chances but not putting them away. The goals would soon come. Just seems to be a lot of goalmouth scrambles or shots from the edge of the box at the moment.
Teams are going to pack their defence all season so we will need to find a way through. Sure it will come in time, just a little frustrating right now.
