Mate of mine who is quite into his home cinema stuff reckons that unless your dropping several grand on a telly, there's very little diffrence between a Hisense or other budget brands and a mid level Samsung/LG or whatever. Same technology, you just end up paying more for the brand.
Dunno if he's talking bollix, but it might be worth looking into.
You'll not regret buying an LG, right across the whole range of specs and sizes.

Ah, yes, LG. Iโll never understand why they changed their name from Lucky-Goldstar.

I brought a 23 my C3 EVO last month and it pisses over my last Bravia.

Depends on the feed but on the whole heโs talking bollocks.

My parents do not like their LG TV.
One simple reason. To turn the subtitles on and off requires about 5 button pushes through 3 menus.
Apart from that the TV is ok, but my mum uses hearing aids and finds the subtitles very useful with some programs.
say that again
Last week took delivery of a Philips Ambilight 809 OLED. Sizes from 42 to 77 inch. Picture is truly stunning. Dolby vision, atmos, all that bollocks. Of course the elephant in the room is the ambilight. Council house? distracting?...naaah it's bloody superb. Adds to anything you are watching, makes a smaller screen appear bigger, eases eye strain in a dark room and for filums gives you that 'night at the flicks' vibe. Superb bit of kit.
We got the 55" as it's a big front room and tbh if you are seeing the difference between 42 and 55 is just over a 100 quid - daft not to.
It's an LG OLED panel they use btw - so the best (imo).

Having had an Hisense OLED and then getting an LG OLED, I can tell you that's complete rubbish.
Night and day, literally. There is a reason for the price difference and it's mostly the brightness (nits) these panels can bang out and also how black the black is.
An Hisense will always look washed out in bright daylight as the panels can't match the brightness of the premium ones. If you are happy with that though and the blacks being weird and gray then they aren't bad and very cheap.
The Philips OLEDs are actually LG panels Stetchy - not sure about the LED panels though.
Yeah, if you switch the ambilight off it is really striking just how much 'smaller' the picture seems in comparison to having it on
It's very 'marmite' isn't it Raspers?
Some reviewers found it a distraction (most love it).
Personally I think it's a bit of a game changer - sports, films, anything. The latest ambilight version is really effective (V3?) compared to our first about 10 years ago. Really enhances what you are watching and the colours much brighter, vivid and faster reacting to what's on the screen - loads of customisation options in the settings as well.

Yeah like anything the top end are better I was referring to my experience of their entry / medium range. In my experience it's been shit.
First one had a green hue on everyone's face that would flicker in and out. Currys "know how" didn't "know why" and ended up giving me voucher for a direct replacement early 2010s and I got a 32" Samsung to replace it that's still going strong in the bedroom.
And the other one as I said died after 3 years boxing day. Replacement Samsung still going strong. I did like ambilight though I will add that. It makes the screen feel another 6 inches wide.
