Every season we have got 82 points or more we have got automatic promotion - 1983-84, 1994-95, 2006-07, 2008-09.
In 1991-92 we went up with 81.

We need 8 points to set a club record, which is currently 89, from 1994-95

We have also equalled the most wins in a season with 25 (1984-85, 1994-95). I am wondering why we did not do well in 2004-05 and 2014-15.
We need 8 wins to beat the 70% winning ratio from 1902-03 - 24 from 34. Amazingly we finished second that season to Man City.

We can still equal the fewest league defeats (3) from 1892-93. Though that was in a 22 game season, so is equivalent to 6.
We can beat the fewest in a 42/46 game season which is 5 in 1947-48 and 1971-72.

We are not set to beat our goal scoring record of 103 in 28 games from 1893-94
We need to score 46 to beat it. Or 112 in 11 games to beat the goals per game.

Play offs
We can't qualify on Saturday. Even if Huddersfield and Reading both lose and we win they can still catch us on goal difference.

Home wins in a season? Have we now bettered the 15 from 06-07?
10:38, Wed 12 Mar
1893-94, we got 42 points in 28 games, where a win only got you 2 points. If you make that 3 points per win and stretch it over 46 games, that gives us 103.5 points. Could argue thats our record.

We also got 26 wins in 2006/07.

Pedant point we won 26 league games in 2006/7

We have 35 for the season in all comps, record is 36 in 94/95

You bastards.
You are of course right

I didn't really look at 2006-07 as we only got 82 points.
But yes we need 1 more win to equal 2006-07.
I think we'll probably get that on Saturday.

I'm reluctant to include seasons with 2 points for a win for points comparisons.
The calculations were a bit different then as a draw was worth relatively more.
Also we played very different numbers of games 46 is more than 50% extra compared to a 28 game season.
The way clubs and the leagues were structured makes the comparison more inexact as well.
I am prepared to say we won't match the 103 goals and definitely won't match it on a game for game basis which would require us to score 169+

I agree with that for the 28 game season, as ultimately, we may not have won a single other game if 18 more had been played. Or may have won every game.

That 1893/94 season is the only season in our history that we haven’t drawn a game. 21 wins, 7 defeats and an average of 5.25 goals per game. Kevin Keegan’s great grandad must have been in charge of that team.

Our current average is 2.34, Wolves L1 record was 2.24. We need 2.36 to break the efl record or 26 points from 11 games. 8 wins, 2 draws and a loss should do it.
11:56, Wed 12 Mar
Wolves won their last ten in a row or something and played a lot less games than us. I see us dropping off when the deed is done, purely through being knackered .
13:14, Wed 12 Mar
Another one to look at is the most wins in a season is Doncaster (admittedly 42 game season) with 33. Win nine out of eleven to have that record. 46 game record is 32 I think.

if Wycombe beat Wrexham on Saturday and we do over Northampton I would say it is very unlikely we wont go up

17 point gap with 27 points to play.. based on wrexham's season they be lucky to get 15 points in remaining game

think saturday will be a pivotal point in our season
13:42, Wed 12 Mar
As someone said - Wrexham losing last night sealed it for me.

Its NOT sealed of course, we still need to keep going... but.... i mean....it's a lovely position to be in!

Yes. Could be 17 points with a game in hand to boot on 3rd. Don't think Northampton will be easy by any stretch based on recent form, but if we did that would be great.

By all accounts Wrexham were dross but Reading at home was always going to be difficult test and the old Wycombe would definitely have swept them away Saturday. Dodds Wycombe, not so sure.

Northampton are not very good.
If we turn up and tame it seriously we will win.
With two weeks off we have no reason to hold back too much.
I'd be disappointed with a draw.

The one really tricky fixture left is Peterborough away. There could be some second guessing pre-Wembley by both sides.
That's not to say we won't drop points elsewhere (100% losses at Burton), but Peterborough has the potential to get in our heads in a way the other games do not.
14:12, Wed 12 Mar
Hope your crystal ball foresight is right on Northampton!

To all intents and purposes, that would seal it for me if Wrexham also go down at Wycombe.
14:20, Wed 12 Mar
Technically it doesn't even seal a play-off spot.
I've seen Blues pull an implausible run of results out the bag to go down more than once.
I'm very much in it's done when it's done camp.

But all the statistics increasingly point to us going up champions very easily.
It's a fantastic position to be in with 11 games to go.
At the start of the season I would have happily settled for going in to the final two games with our fate in our hands.
