CharcyOn the other hand Donny set theirs in Division 3 North, so half of the clubs would be Division 4 standard - at best. Be like taking out our draws against Reading and defeat to Shrewsbury, and replacing them with matches against Carlisle and Accrington Stanley.Another one to look at is the most wins in a season is Doncaster (admittedly 42 game season) with 33. Win nine out of eleven to have that record. 46 game record is 32 I think.
Don’t really know much about them but it appears Nolan has got them playing better since he came in. He was an awkward customer (and dirty b*stard) as a player and I think his team might prove to be similar. No, I wouldn’t take a draw.
So they'll play quite direct with a big guy who is all elbows somewhere up front or in midfield.
They've got 41 points, half of what we have, but should be pretty safe from going down.
We should be confident about beating them if we play reasonably well.
ephidorif Wycombe beat Wrexham on Saturday and we do over Northampton I would say it is very unlikely we wont go up
17 point gap with 27 points to play.. based on wrexham's season they be lucky to get 15 points in remaining game
think saturday will be a pivotal point in our season
Northampton away on Saturday will not be a gimme by any means. They might show a bit more ambition than they did at our place - haven’t forgotten their celebrations at the final whistle by the way.
PS - we’ve only visited Northampton twice in our history (both at the old Country Ground) - a 2-1 loss in December 1966 and a 2-2 draw in March 1990.
We'd never beaten Stevenage in the league until last night. And never beaten them in a home game.
The 1997 game being technically an away game even though it was at St Andrews.
On the other hand they had never scored against us until the 94th minutes.
Brilliant,as 'Ian Drury said'= "There ain't are Bin sum clever B**rstards".
The win also means that we have beaten every single team we have ever faced in the Football League. Adding Burton Albion to the list was an itch scratched. The other new bugs we've faced are Crawley.
Good article, but pedant point. Didn’t we get relegated in 1983/84? Think you must mean 1984/85, with the 13 away wins.
1984-85, yes.
82 points, 25 wins.
Many of our better seasons are when the year ends in a 5.
1904-05, 1954-55, 1984-85, 1994-95, and now 2024-25
