We get a lot but dont score from them -same with crosses -loads wasted . We need a big mobile striker for next year . Not a moan because some of our play in and around the box is a joy ,however there is this part of our game that IMO we are not able at present to captalise on .We should be scoring more from setpieces and crosses

We seem to be more interested in pushing and shoving than focusing on the actual corner kick.

Yeah, agree we’re crap on offensive corners, a good proportion of which end up with a free kick against us.

We did go through a few games ‘over-hitting’ to a player beyond the back post to head it back across, and it was working. But we’ve even stopped that now..

Our best corners have been the ones we mix it up.

Couple of times yesterday we went short and worked a shooting chance at the edge of the box. Even the Scott Wright goal came from a short corner where Paik was able to change the angle slightly.

There's also the corners we fire on the floor (second goal yesterday, plus I remember one in the Wrexham home game where Paik got a shot away, and one in the Newcastle game maybe?).

I'd be tempted to bin off the lumps into the box and just go short every time - seems to be more effective

I'm not keen on this modern trend of everyone crowding the goalkeeper. I can see why it's a tactic, but you need to leave a couple of players further out to attack the ball at pace. I'd like us to leave Klarer and Davies a bit further out so they can attack the ball properly.

I agree with this, more than one way to skin a cat. Good we’re showing a bit of invention. Leonard was on for a short one from the right hand side as soon as he came off the bench if he’d have just carried on walking to the edge of the box, he had acres of space. I was surprised Stevenage only sent one out every time try and stop us going short.

Given how in depth Davies is at knowing what the opposition do, I’m surprised at that. Unless he’s in charge of that of course. But it would be better given to a specific person it seems

They were mostly taken by Leonard, and mostly perfectly landed in that area. The lack of that corner routine has coincided with his injury

I don't think many of our players apart from Juke attack the ball effectively in our opponents box.
20:27, Wed 12 Mar
My point exactly
Can't remember the stat exactly but it's something like 97% of corners don't result in a goal.

Buying a carthorse isn't the answer.

Inventive corner routines are the way forward.
