All this play acting, keepers going down, pretend head injury’s, they are deceiving a match official, is that not a punishable offence?
Week in, week out we have had dog s**t refs this season, each week you leave the game saying “that’s the worst I’ve seen” and somehow they seem to get worse.
Does anyone at The FA watch these games back and say to the refs - why have you not given that? And the Lino’s are even worse. I don’t see the point in them in the modern game. They keep their flag down, look at the ref waiting for him to make a decision then point whatever way the ref has said.
Then you have the throw ins, what is it with them these days? everyone we play takes a foul throw more a less every time. The Lino and refs aren’t interested.
Rant over
Yeah I think the referee pretty much was representative of all the refs we’ve had this season. Petty, inconsistent and had no control over the game or the time wasting. I’m not going to blame him for why we lost though as we were just shocking anyway and deserved to lose.
The EFL obviously thought that guy was one of - if not the best, refs they've got at League One / Two level. Otherwise I presume they wouldn't have given him their flagship game.
I imagine they'd be pretty disappointed with the way he reffed it, he was crap. The other problem was that the second half in particular turned into an absolute drone with all the timewasting, rolling about, playacting, pretending to be injured by every challenge, pretending to be injured by the football and constant fouling. It turned into a pretty shite spectacle and advertisement.
But as others have said - bad as they guy was...and he was bad, we just didn't play anything like and we have to accept that. Which again, people are really. So it's fair enough.
The warning signs were there he hadn't been in charge of any of our games all season so it could have gone either way.

Fair assessment of the game, it was frustrating, the ref was petty and was very poor at recognising a foul, but it was up to us as a team to change it and we weren’t good enough on the day.
I’d only add that there have been quite a lot of occasions this season when we have been ‘seeing out the game’.

That's actually incorrect. He was in charge at Charlton away.... Which I said was a bad omen.

Sorry your right. I thought I checked beforehand.
Rab C NesbittThe law now is 6 seconds to release the ball and if not an indirect free kick from where the keeper is standing is awarded. The refs are paid to enforce the laws not to decide what to ignore
That’s the same as when I played many moons ago. Thought it must have been removed as I can’t remember the last time I saw a free kick given.
Seems odd they are never give.n. Must be some sort of pact. Or maybe they just don’t want the hassle of getting a wall 12 yds back so close to goal.
would be a laugh to see the ref assessors reports on some of the dopes we've had

To play devil's advocate whilst also agreeing with your points, there's not a lot a ref can do with the play acting, cramps, 'head' injuries.
It's something that's done by every single team in world football when they know time needs to be wasted. All I hope is that the time added on is propionate - the 11 mins on Sunday was fair IMO
The ref, like 99% of the refs this season was shite. I can to a degree, accept shite refs as long as they're consistent. We had players booked for isolated incidents whilst the posh players weren't booked for the same type of fouls on multiple occasions
Good riddance to 'em!

Watching the game back it was worse even than I remembered. We got absolutely none of the 50/50, could go either way type decisions. He gave them the benefit of the doubt every single time. He couldn't/wouldn't get on top of the time wasting and we had no rhythm.
Weve lost 6 of our 54 games this season. He's reffed 2 of them and we've lost them both.
He's reffed p'boro 6 times in the last 3 seasons and they've won all 6.
It seems odd statistically. I have opinions, good and bad on virtually every club in the football league. Even if I was trying my best to be impartial it would subconsciously impact my decision making. That's my best guess for what happened with this ref.
That or he really is just that s***e
I watched a Peterborough vlog on YouTube .One of the fans says that the referee will be on our side today , he gives some laughable decisions for us .He must love us , we've never lost a game he has refereed .
