We won the league last weekend

Not sure if anyone was aware as it seems really downbeat on here.

Apologies if you already knew.

I really don't get it either. I'm old enough to remember the 1975 FA Cup semi-final along with the many disappointments we've endured since. I would honestly put Sunday's result at the very bottom of that long list. I'd rank them as follows:

Utterly heartbreaking
1975 v Fulham
1984 v Watford
1999 v Watford
2001 v Preston
2011 relegation

Disappointing but we didn't have big expectations
1979 relegation
1984 relegation
1986 relegation
1989 relegation
1994 relegation
2000 v Barnsley
2001 v Liverpool
2006 relegation
2008 relegation
2010 v Portsmouth
2011 v Bolton
2012 v Blackpool

Meh
2025 v Peterborough

Agree re Fulham - that was a heart breaker that us 60+ brigade still carry.

Sunday was disappointing in comparison

I think it's because it was a foregone conclusion.

It was the minimal expectation.

Losing the Trophy, no matter how shite a cup it was, would have been the matching expectations.

It's why lots were saying it would be great if we could win the title on the pitch instead of when we weren't playing. It would have been a nice moment to celebrate but instead of that, it's been completely ignored.

Seasons over.

Cricket now for months

Depressed

Leading up to it and on the day, i woke up with an odd feeling it was going to be 'one of them days'. Tried to shake it but couldn't.

It WAS typical blues really if we we even say that anymore. Smash the season, beating the team twice then flap it on the day.
Call it sods law if you like.

But it's just bragging rights over the course of a day, good luck to Peterborough I hope they enjoyed it. Capitalised on our nerves, but ultimately, next season we're not even in it.

I was gutted in 1984. We were safe with 10 games to go. We were in the top half when we played Watford and didn't slip in to the bottom 3 until about 4.25 pm on the final day.

Also in 1989, but it had been obvious since just after the start of the season we were on the way down.

I got way more of a buzz after securing promotion than I would have got winning the Vertu.

There is nothing typical about what you just said. In the only comparable moment we won the cup. People are desperate to use this phrase and seemingly for any scenario.

We lost as favourites. That's it. Arsenal did against us. It's literally football and what it's about.

Typical blues as in, beat them twice and be expected to win and didn't.

I feel that's what the underlying bad feeling I had, was.

With arsenal we weren't expected to win, and did.

In other words just when you think we're slightly more predictable based on the season were having, we fall short on one specific day

Yeah you're right though, that's football.

Absolutely right. We’ve been playing teams all season and saying it’s their cup final. Well that was never clearer than yesterday. Whatever we tried it just didn’t work for us for numerous reasons and it can happen

We've played plenty of games this season, where we have huffed and puffed with Davies ball without creating much.

While the opposition without much possession have missed a couple of gilt edged chances and we've won 1-0.

They scored a couple of worldies .On another day the free kick goes over the bar , the lad blazes the ball wide .We wear them down get a winner in extra time and leave the ground saying " we didn't play well but a wins a win " and celebrate the trophy .
