moor hall, sutton park, walmley kind of standard courses. usually a 1500ish joining fee aswell.
Depends what you want, the derby at the Belfry is the best value for money in these parts, pretty much the same price as a municiple but in loads better condition
Private members clubs are generally £50 +, unless you know a member who could sign you in.
The Aylesford at the Forest of Arden is also really good and resonabley priced.
Nikola ZigicNorth Birmingham I'd recommend:
- Wishaw
- Aston Wood
- Atherstone- this is ace, a proper challenge and very different
- Lichfield GC
You can get on the Derby at the Belfry pretty cheaply at short notice.
I'm a fan of Wishaw, it's quiet and is a nice course but doesn't get much praise as it's round the corner from The Belfry and Drayton Manor.
I’m a member at Wishaw. As you say, it’s in the shadows of some more established and expensive courses in the area (Walmley, Moor Hall etc) but it’s perfect for me and good value for money 👍
...jesus, glad I don't pay Midlands membership prices these days, my subs were £700 on renewal in April 👍
South of Birmingham, Stratford Park and Solihull Golf Club weee both good value.
Stratford Park and Welcombe (a bit dearer) were both nice courses.
Stratford upon Avon is a fantastic course but, about £80 I think
cleeve hill overlooks Cheltenham racecourse - get you fit-up and down dale and only 40 rubs
Membership prices have gone thought the roof especially north Birmingham. Almost 2k a year now.
Enville is a great course if you can get over to it. Not sure on the green fee. Probably pretty pricey but well worth it. Also Whittington is worth it but again no doubt expensive.
Waiting list at Whittington as well, I didn't mention their or Drayton for that reason really.
Lichfield was priced fairly when it was called Seedy Mill but it's overpriced now, for what it is. Nice facilities though, it would be quite easy to sit sipping on the patio for an afternoon and some more.
I've never played Atherstone but I've been told a few times that I should.
I recommend Atherstone, you'll be better at golf at me so will probably enjoy it more.
14 blind tee shots I think? Mountain goat style course and a real challenge to plot round. Some stunning looking holes too.
Give it a go.

I really like Wishaw 👍🏼
Played it for years then priced us out a bit, think it's £40 on a Friday now? I used to go on a Friday afternoon for £21.
I think they're pushing for members, seems like they don't really want guests.
When my circumstances allow (i.e. not young babs) I'll be joining Wishaw. Never know, one day I might not slice it right into the water on the 8th.
£7,500 for us at Trump Dubai, and this year they have added a joining fee. Still have a waiting list!
Rack rate is £372 for a round on a weekend!
I played Lichfield last week, it was ok for the £25 I paid but I’m not sure I’d want to pay more than £30 tbh.
Branston just before Burton off the A38 is an excellent course, I’d really recommend it and the facilities are top notch if you want to spoil yourself.

Never heard of Solihull GC. Do you mean Shirley or Copt Heath, Olton or Robin Hood?
Thanks for that. I have never played it so didn't know.
