I respect your view. For me, though, what Burnley or Leeds did is moot, because they were playing with a deck of cards whereby you could have had a National League keeper in goal and you’d still have expected them to be in the mix for automatic promotion.

We’ve gone off track a bit anyway. I say this without being in possession of any of the facts, but I’m underwhelmed by us signing anyone who we have no chance of keeping. That’s not a complaint, just my opinion.

Like any summer though, we will sign some good, bad and indifferent I would imagine.

Are there high hopes for Brad Mayo? Beadle for a year until Mayo is ready to step up?

Yeah spot on - it's the direction we're going in.

Although through personal PTSD and playing days as a defender I'm in favour of the eye test with goalkeepers, a shaky, nervous wreck in goal can wobble an entire team. I don't think there's any data for that.
We saw that when BPF came in against Bolton, defence looked totally different in comparison to when Allsop was in net

I agree, that's why I'm not sure about it

But I think if it happens, it's because the clubs data suggests he will make us better.

If we got promoted there is no reason we couldn't sign him (everybody is available for a price after all). Plus I can't imagine he is on crazy wages (especially if he was at Sheff Weds last two years) so they may see it as a relatively cheap signing for a year whilst they can focus the money in other areas.

I’ve just been searching for viewpoints and opinions and this assessment caught my eye

‘ He's been really good. He's made some absolutely worldie saves, but a few clangers as well. Worth noting that the defence he's had in front of him is average at full strength, but been second string through injuries the last few months. He's had to deal with a lot of defensive eff-ups, so the amount he's conceded isn't a reflection on his ability. Decision making can seem off sometimes, but again, our defence is constantly forcing split second decisions on him that wouldn't be as prevalent with Brighton

His distribution's improved massively under Rohl from last year. He's not going to start your attack off, but he knows when he can find a player or if he needs to just boot it. It's been a great loan for him in that respect.

He'll be an asset for you (Brighton) and will go far. My personal jury's out on whether he'll make it at international level, but he'll have a chance if he keeps improving. Like I said, it's hard to tell because the defence in front of him put him under so much pressure. I could be underselling him. I honestly think that once he's done with us, he'll be ready to get some prem minutes under his belt’

I wouldn't pay too much mind to football fans opinions on forums. Especially about young players.

They'll tell you that Louie Seilby is better than Jude Bellingham or that George Hall is better than Jobe Bellingham.

Done on loan?

Technically still registered on loan to Wednesday until the end of June, apparently. Can’t sign until July.

Or that Jordan James is at least as good as Adam Wharton if not better and should go for at least as much money - because he has international caps. Ignoring the competition in their respective international setups.
