Good twitter thread here on our goalkeeping options for next season.

That's a really good thread and makes me feel a lot better about loaning Beadle.
Rab C Nesbitt is the best poster on SHA bar none.

The only thing I would add is from the people I have spoken to as it stands we have zero chance of making the Beadle loan permanent

This doesn't surprise me. Brighton will have Verbruggen as No 1 again this season with Rushworth as No 2, they'll move Verbruggen on next summer for £40m and have Rushworth and Beadle fighting for the No 1 Jersey.

I am hoping for someone different, or I hope he's loads better than his stats suggest. Lowest save percentage in the Championship last season with a ridiculously low 58.5%

Least if it doesn't work out we have a we have a competent keeper in allsop. Must be saving that kinda money for other positions.
Signing doesn’t make sense to me personally

why would we loan a keeper who may or may not be better than our current no1 with no option to make it permanent , seems odd to me

They must think he's better than Allsop, just because we don't, it doesn't mean they don't

FWIW the data stuff they are using is far more sophisticated than what we see on these sites, and that's what they'll be basing it on.

Despite that, if we can't make it permanent I don't see the point.

Perhaps it is because our recruitment team are armed with a scouting network and sophisticated data that produces an opinion that Beadle will be better than Allsop.

They don't go off you tube clips and "DavetheOwl" off twitter to evaluate players.

I'm happy to trust in the recruitment process and see how it all plays out.

It isn't the type of move I expected them to be making but they are the ones with all the information not me - I guess they perhaps think there is no one in our price range worth signing permanently, while Beadle even for a season has a huge upside.

Edit - and while there isn't an option on him, if he does well and we go up, it might be that they think he would then be affordable on our new budget.

I assume the theory is that the position may be fluid, and secondly we are going flat out for promotion and happy to make some short term options.

Yeah that's fair

Still ended up signing BPF mind you

He was fine as a back up for last year - don't think he cost much and as a second choice, he could come in without disrupting the style of play
