The coffers could be further swelled by the sale of Dion to Derby and if Burnley agree a deal for Jordan James.
This just flashed up on sky sports as completed.
He's gone to them.
MickbcfcEl MayorMickbcfcEl MayorMickbcfcLe ModYeah I got £3.8M initially, before any add ons or further sell ons are realised
Do we 15% off the reported €5m euro adds ons if/when there are achieved too?
We get 15% of profit made on the transfer at the time of the deal; thus any add ons achieved will be included as part of the original price we received and any that aren’t achieved won’t be
Add it to the summers war chest, that and Romelle fee on the books should give us a big budget to spend.
Okay I’m gonna pour a bit of water on this cos it’s needed.
Take this year in isolation, yes we can.
However it doesn’t work like that. We broke even ish with amortisation last year but that means we have another year of that amortisation to pay this year. It’ll be the same the next year too, etc
I think we can spend but let’s not go overboard with our expectations.
Doesn’t help when you’ve got the owner telling everyone we’re up there with parachute teams in terms of revenue and plans are promotion.
Maybe that little bit of water was needed because I’m seeing people saying top 2 seems to be the plan for the club.
Realistically what do you think there is to spend? Rough ball park figure?
No idea - and to be honest, I think it’s a red herring anyway. It’s more important we continue to spend well than big.
Agreed. And quite frankly I'd prefer us not to brag about how much money we've got, as player prices go up as soon as we're interested.
IMO Dortmund have well overpaid .I reckon the Bellingham name has put 10 mill on that figure. Hes OK but he aint THAT good

I don't think it is that far off being reasonable - there is a definite tendency to underestimate a player who has 100+ appearances at 19, and was a standout player in a promoted side.
I also think I don't care beyond what creates the most money for Blues, which is not him going for £10m less.

They've paid for potential I believe, which could be everything or nothing, that's the gamble I suppose.
He's Blues though, I hope he smashes it.

Yeah i dont get this being over joyed over 5 mill when essentially he was a birmingham academy player and no matter what way you look at it blues lost out on havimg a potential star player and also the big hefty sum Sunderland have managed to bag.

He demanded contractually to be guaranteed game time.
You can see that through Sunderland picking him to start when he was in god awful form and looked out on his feet.
No player is bigger than the club

"a" not "the" - I think most of the stats sites have him ranked second on performance across the season.

He was selected as the best young player in the Championship. At 19 that is some going.
I think the figure is about right.
Cheers to both for replying. I didn’t watch them a lot but I wasn’t massively impressed when watching him.
But it does suggest the Championship isn’t as strong as we usually think
