Doyle played as a 10 for Sheffield United in 22/23 season. I do get your point though because he’s a good tackler and would be more suited for all action type game.

I’d still take him without hesitation though.

I'm not fussed about Fujimoto. Wasn't convinced he was playing at a decent enough level and to be honest I'd prefer a different type of number 10.

Doyle would be a superb signing.

It's a difficult one. We never seem to find a place for an attacking 8. It never seems to work, mainly because prior to Davies we've always been a quite dull, low block dsort of team, since Hughes really. It's been the same for years. Even last year with all the possession in the world, Willumson was ok, never set the world alight but he was a that Jarosik style, tall, gangly 8 / 10. A bit unsightly. I dont think hes the answer.

For me, an 8 is a O'Hare, Crowley type. Exciting, always wanting the ball between the lines, always wanting to create. If Doyle can play in there then great.

A 10 is goalscoring false 9/Winger for me. TBH we dont have one of them really either. I'm sure they are looking at many that can play wide but also grab 10/15 goals. We're very light in those areas.

Celtic and Rangers are massive clubs. Bigger than 9-10 of the premier league clubs from this season.

That being said they don’t understand the size of some English clubs in the second tier and how hard they would push them in the SPL.

Massive???? In Scotland yes. And that's where it ends

I think it’s an error to say that they aren’t massive clubs on the basis that every other team in their league is comparatively small. Historically, both would have been competitive in the Premier League, and I believe that Celtic still would be.

Their worldwide fan base is probably in the top dozen or so most supported clubs.

Their overseas fan bases are made up almost entirely by expatriate Scots.

They most certainly do not have the global pull of Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, inter Milan etc;

Celtic aren't even in the top 100 globally for social media following, which is an imperfect but good proxy for worldwide support

But they are well in the top 20 worldwide for actual fans in their stadium. The only reason they're down on that list is because a few of the top prem side have expanded their stadiums. Arsenal, Spurs, West ham and Liverpool come to mind. They have 54,000 season ticket holders and need to expand Celtic park because at 60,000 it's to small. You have to pay to be on the season ticket waiting list and there are 17,000 on that list. They are a massive club and if they had the capacity would be 3rd or 4th on that worldwide list.

To think they're not a massive club really is a bit daft.

Not daft at all I'm afraid.

Outside of a pretty narrow ethnic/religious grouping they have very few followers.

The truly big clubs globally appeal across such divides.

Will be interesting to see if we do sign him. Is he that much better than Dowell / Willumson?

Wolves fans love him read the comments after listening to the podcast.

It’s probably been mentioned here somewhere, so apologies, but his intercepting a 4 v 1 and then knocking a beauty out pass which Wolves scored from away at Brighton was a great example of different parts of a versatile midfielder’s job.

He’s quality for sure just a few concerns on physicality but still very young.

He’d cost over £8m and rightly so.

This hinges on the medical. But we do have 3 alternatives if it falls apart.
