Too old, too little, too expensive.

Are we listing things said to or by me in the act of wooing?

Personally I think the age thing is overstated. Them lot went up with Elmohammedy Whelan Neil Taylor to name 3 off the top my head all in 30s……

Having a few lads in their early 30s is fine. Ideal, even. You can’t just have an entire squad of 21-25 year olds. I mean, you can, but you’d be a lacking a bit of experience.

Build a squad of younger lads and sprinkle in some older players who can be electric now. Job’s a good’n.

Problem is when you build an entire squad of Kevin Longs (with respect to Kevin Long).

I was doing a bit of research, they changed managers after he signed and the new one barely gave him a look in for whatever reason

He’s got the best movement I’ve ever seen in a striker. Plus his work rate is phenomenal. He can score goals out of nothing. He has been carrying a shoulder injury the last few years, seems to pop out quite often but doesn’t seem to miss many games with it.

He’d still be with us if Ange was manager, Rodgers style of keeping possession stifled him big time. Feed him the ball and he’d get you a ton of goals.
First game Plymouth away 1987. 1-1. Never looked back. Up the effing Blues

Oh I agree, I’m not advocating Dads army, and I also get you have to be sensible when a transfer fee is involved, but by the same token I think you need balance in any squad. The guy for this league would be an incredible signing. I’d be made up if it happened, irrespective of his age

I see a problem with this plan.

There's a difference between keeping possession in the Daviesball style, and keeping possession for the sake of it, for example Russell Martin.

I reckon Furuhashi would do just fine in a Chris Davies team. I'd still be astounded if we managed to sign him mind
