Los AzulesLarssonfreekickPoorly worded from me, I didn’t necessarily mean in terms of his levels.
I guess I meant more what he brings: you can rely on him for a goal when you need one.
As an option off the bench, 10 mins to go, when we’re pushing towards the Tilton, I think he’s exactly what you want to bring on, and we’d be stupid to let him go.
Another one that gets double-up on in L1 but won’t in the Championship as well.
More than deserves his chance.
He probably does, but sadly not with us. We’ve given him just as much as he’s given us and let’s not forget that. If he went to a team that isn’t expecting a top 6 finish next season then I’m sure he’d do okay.
If at any point we’re relying on May to start, which we won’t, then we will drop points next season. We have to be brutal now.
If I’ve understood you correctly, you’re claiming that if Alfie May starts a Championship game for us then there is no way we could win it?
If so, that’s absolutely mental.

No he’s saying we wouldn’t be as strong, so would probably not win as many games as we would with a Kyogo leading the line.
Which is probably fair.

Absolute nonsense isn't it?
If we sign better than May that's all well and good, if not then I'm more than happy to keep him and believe he'll be an asset to us.
Los AzulesLarssonfreekickThrillhouseWe like Alfie and would be happy for him to be a squad option in the Championship
But if enough talent is identified that he becomes superfluous, then thanks for the memories Alfred
I feel like none of the above is controversial
This might be controversial but the Stanno signing never quite sat right with me (as much as I love him) and I think we’d have scored more if Alfie had started every week last year ahead of him
I also think (maybe controversially) that he’s still the best out-and-out striker we’ve got, and is one of those natural goalscorers that, with the right chances, will score at any level
Think it would be a massive mistake to let him go, so hard to find natural goalscorers like that
Closest we’ve had since Kevin Phillips/ Marlon King
He’s not even close to Philips or Marlon.
I like Alfie but he can’t run with the ball, he struggles to pass the ball and he’s too slow to see players runs.
He’s a decent finisher but I really don’t think he will be able to play in the championship.
He clearly is a very good footballer technically, something I didn’t honestly appreciate until we signed him. I’d say in terms of technique he has a genuine case of being the best forward we’ve got. He’s also got a case of being our best finisher.
It’s all redundant, I personally think if he stays he plays very little in terms of minutes. I’m talking like 250 minutes if he stays.
I just got on and saw that there is a lot more activity on this thread. Can someone TLDR the entire thing for me? I really cannot be arsed to read through this many pages to see what has been going on.

I didn’t read it like that at all.
Of course it’s fair to say that we’d win more games with Kyogo than May. I don’t think anyone would dispute that.
My point was his reference to us dropping points if May played at ‘any point’.
Never mind.
I read it differently, because the other read is obviously nonsense.
I thought he meant if we’re relying on Alfie over an extended period.
You’re reading it wrong and you appear to be agreeing with him. There weren’t many (any?) Championship clubs who seemed ready to take a punt on him. Can’t be certain how he would do either way but it is a fact he hasn’t played and performed at this level so he’s more of a risk than someone who has, whatever their age.

This should be the official SHA tagline
Don't know if Kyogo furuhashi is joining Blues. Alfie May will be ace/shoite in Champ. Some other bollix.

We haven’t signed him yet. HTH
And they can't figure out if Alfie May is good or shit
I don’t think May is Championship level personally. Good finisher and poacher but link up play limited and lacks pace/strength
Despite that I’d keep him as our 4th/5th choice off the bench for the last 10 minute Hail Mary, primarily because he’s apparently really popular and important to the team spirit/culture
I can hardly see him featuring though, will do well to make the bench most of the time
Kyogo, stanno and maybe another target man forward will be ahead of him come the start of the season. I'd keep him as 4th choice an bin off dykes personally

This is exactly my take too.
Obviously if we sign better players within our budget, then fine.
But as a 4th choice, last 10 minutes, he deserves his chance. I think Davies and the team love him too, which is important.
