It's a long old season.

2 or 3 injuries and I'm sure any team would be happy to have an Alfie may ready to go.

I think he's gonna surprise a few people. Tbh.

I don’t think May is Championship level personally. Good finisher and poacher but link up play limited and lacks pace/strength

Despite that I’d keep him as our 4th/5th choice off the bench for the last 10 minute Hail Mary, primarily because he’s apparently really popular and important to the team spirit/culture

I can hardly see him featuring though, will do well to make the bench most of the time

This is exactly my take too.

Obviously if we sign better players within our budget, then fine.

But as a 4th choice, last 10 minutes, he deserves his chance. I think Davies and the team love him too, which is important.

If we had Kyogo and Stansfield, then it would depend who the third choice was that determined who I would rather keep out of May and Dykes. I thin k a bigger player to mix up the play would be important in the mix.

100%.

You need a combination of styles and skill sets.
There's too much opinion and not enough fact.

This. He will definitely have a role to play IMO, even if it'sonly brief cameos here and there. As others have said, if you're looking for someone to bag you a goal in the last 10 minutes then I think he'd be a great option.

I read it differently, because the other read is obviously nonsense.

I thought he meant if we’re relying on Alfie over an extended period.

Ok mate. An extended period isn’t ’the same as ‘at any point’.

All I’m trying to stress is that, if May had to play a few games here and there, I don’t think it would be the catastrophe he thinks it would.

👍

In 17 league games where he played 45 mins or less last season he scored twice and they were both in the same game. I think he struggles to make an impression and get up to speed when he doesn’t start.

I think the argument is though about if people would rather have May or a better striker than May.

I don't think anyone is (seriously) suggesting getting rid of him unless it is to upgrade?

I like May, I would be happy to see him get a chance to play for us in the Champ. I gave no hesitation in saying we should upgrade on him if we can. It is about winning, not sentiment.

You’re reading it wrong and you appear to be agreeing with him. There weren’t many (any?) Championship clubs who seemed ready to take a punt on him. Can’t be certain how he would do either way but it is a fact he hasn’t played and performed at this level so he’s more of a risk than someone who has, whatever their age.

If my basic grasp of English is correct, which it is, then I am not reading it wrong.

Anyway, moving on and for everyone’s clarity, agreeing with him that Kyogo is a better footballer than May doesn’t mean that I think May would be the liability he does.

Can this end the argument now and we go back to falling for AI tweets that Kyogo has signed please. Because everybody in this thread agrees with this, we’ve just got 5 pages of people arguing over the wording of the same opinion 😆
