FFS! 2 years ago we were signing Oliver Burke, Alex Pritchard and Stiki Dembele as our wide players and now some fans are turning their knows up at one of the own who’s won the premier league, amassed 200 EPL appearances and about to turn 29.
Have we become the entitled or something?
2 years ago we were in a crumbling half closed St Andrews. Compare that to our future plans.
Times have changed -it’s nothing to do with entitlement
2 years ago DG hadn’t spent 2 years doing sweet FA in a tinpot league, and effectively pensioned himself off at 27

Absolute madness!
You don’t think Dimi Gray wouldn’t run through brick walls for us!??
3 seasons ago he was Everton’s best player in the EPL under Benitez and now we think we have the right to think his pants. The lads won the EPL, scored 2 winning goals at old Trafford, played over 200 games at the highest level and still in his prime.
If he comes he agrees to a 60% pay cut and we question his hunger here!??

I’m saying if he comes and it does cost us anything significant I’d rather he didn’t - otherwise let him come and we can see what desire he may still have. Actions speak louder than words. He went to play in a sh1t league (for the money) at 27, and now he’s fully committed to earning much less (apparently)
I’ve no idea what he’s on now or would be with us, but if his 60% wage cut means we’d be paying him £25k pw -(whereas I would say a 60% drop from the Saudi League might mean we could be paying him £80k pw ) - then even that £25k would be more than I would want to pay someone with his “stellar” track record

Fingers crossed. All those who are turning their noses up at this are living on another planet.
Gray is exactly what we need and what we lacked last season. Genuine pace and running power, great ball carrier and a real threat in a one on one.
He has genuine Premier League quality and experience, He’s also in his prime age wise. He would be a fantastic addition and every single club in the Championship would rip your arm off for him.

My concern is he doesn't seem to fit the Daviesball model of a player that can contribute effectively to an intense high press and tracking back when a mistake is made to forcibly ensure we retrieve the ball.

We've seen Demarai Gray before, and both what we've seen of him and his career since us, says that isn't his game at all.

CD also spent 2 years with him at Leicester. He knows what he’s getting.

I completely overlooked that.

I just don’t get why fans are worrying about what he costs or what we will be paying him. The owners and people on the club will have all that sorted and weigh up if it makes sense for us.

All we should be worrying about is will he make us a better team and the answer is yes. He will be one of if not the best left wingers in the league.

In fact, let’s put him on a performance-related deal. £1m per goal OR assist.
(He wouldn’t have earned much last season in that competitive Saudi league.
In fact, from what I understand, he would have earned a big fat 0)
Over his career as a whole it wouldn’t be that expensive per season

Good job it isn’t your money then and we have sensible and ambitious owners isn’t it

Try reading back, or perhaps you’ve tried ? I think you’ll find I talked about the ambition of our owners, and how things have changed in that respect. I also talked about how I feel we still need to be sensible with what we spend and the type of player (and possibly the track record of the character) that we spend it on.
Perhaps you’ll do a better job of keeping up in the future……….

Out of all the names we been linked to this is one really want to happen. Dimi would be great with Davies ball. If he went to one our one of our promotion rivals it would be there gain.

You have to remember if Gray comes it’s because CD wants him here. I’m happy with that and don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t be.

CD knows his character better than you or I.

Apparently the fee is 5.5m with 25% sell on. I rate Gray but I do hope we are sensible with the wages, if this happens.

I can’t see this being the case- would only make sense as a free and heavily discounted wages or a very small fee.
Gotta be honest, I was a vehement no to start with.
However, I've been swayed by some of the more positive arguments put forward here and am far more ambivalent than I was.
If people think it would work, I'm happy to give it a go if the terms are favourable.

My view of Dimi has always been that he is streaky. He had patches for Leicester and Everton where he looked the business but then went completely off the boil.

His figures last year were awful for an attacking midfielder. If these were for Ipswich or Southampton in the prem you could justify them. This is in a league where Bacuna managed 3 goals and 4 assists.

A free, yes, he would add pace and experience in a position we rely on Hansson to get fit and find form. But millions of pounds seems a risk to me.

Similar - I think I've become conditioned to reject any move for any former player as in the past they really haven't worked that well.

But we're a different beast now, and if the club & manager want him and they are comfortable with the financials then that's all that matters.

Gray on his day is as good if not better than any wide player in this division.
