I’d argue it’s the opposite of a risk. Davies knows exactly what type of player he is.
Also I had a look and he has been unavailable for 22 games in the last 9 years through injury, another massive factor.
GBBlueHis figures last year were awful for an attacking midfielder.
Has anybody watched him play recently? Genuinely?
Stats are fine as a reference point but they can't be the only thing you define a player on. He could have put 10 chances on a plate for a donkey striker for all we know, yet him passing it five yards and somebody pinging it in from 25 yards away would be "better" when it comes to stats.
Or should we trust our manager who worked with him on a daily basis for a couple of years? And the recruitment team with access to all the platforms needed to watch him play?
He did win the prem , I could be wrong but I do remember him being behind Albrighton and Nathan dyer in the pecking order.
I haven’t checked but I’d be surprised if he’s ever got more than 8 goal involvements in a season .
I predict a lot of pace , some excellent ball carrying , a fair few over hit crosses , a stunner at preston away and not a lot of end product .

Imagine thinking we are too good for a premier League winning player after being promoted from League One.

I’m very much in favour of him signing but this is a really silly argument. Would you take Wes Morgan right now just because he won the premier league? What about Jan Molby?
Had just typed out the same response but was using Danny Simpson, there are reasons to want him but him winning the league 10 years ago isn’t one of them
I'm just about ok IF the terms are right, we only have a certain amount in the pot, so we can't be gambling too much.
The only thing I would add is he's an upgrade on Anderson, he'll get the ball forward quicker and probably be more dangerous in forward positions.
I’m looking at it as more of an upgrade on Hansson. With Keshi and Gray rotating that wide left role.

Wes Morgan is 41 years old.
Jan Molby you're being silly.
There is a difference between a retired player who is in their 40s and a 27 year old.

None of those three are 28 and theoretically still in their prime. Would expect better from you and HMS

It not about thinking we are too good, it's about thinking whether the player is the right fit, right price etc.
Also we aren't buying an in form Premier league player, he's been playing in a nothing league and his performance stats are questionable which is why I some of us aren't excited by this.
Happy to be proven wrong.

For context, he started once (yep only once !) in Leicester’s prem winning season with him coming on 11 times as a substitute
No goals contributed

We’re both in favour of the signing. But arguing that we have to sign someone because they made one start for a team that won the league a decade ago is specious. But you already know that.
He only joined in the January window and was a kid at the time.
They were top of the Premier League and very settled. He wasn't signed to help win then a title.
Who said we have to sign him?
I just said that it's bonkers that fans of a side newly promoted from League One are turning their noses up at a player of such calibre. All because he's spent two years in Saudi.
