Bluesince62 F.E.A.Basically this. Just roll with it. Things are gonna be fineThe pertinent bit is he and CD know each other from Leicester? ergo if CD decides he wants him, I'm in.
I am very happy with this potential signing. Gray is a top quality player and is pretty much in his prime year/years.
He could probably play in a mid table Prem team.
Having him in the Championship should be extremely exciting.
CharcyI’m okay with it but I take exception to ‘the club he loves’ comment earlier in the thread. It was the club he held to ransom for a minuscule release fee in his contract.
I did intend it more tongue in cheek to the 'if he is so good why is he not in the prem' comment.
RasputinBluubaldersIn fact, let’s put him on a performance-related deal. £1m per goal OR assist.
(He wouldn’t have earned much last season in that competitive Saudi league.
In fact, from what I understand, he would have earned a big fat 0)
Eh?
Are you claiming he played for 'free' in Saudi??
No he probably got paid very well.He is saying he spent the year stealing a living in Saudi.
If his salary was performance related he'd have been paid nada.
He played 24 games O goals, O assists in a tin pot league.
It's a no from me .
This is my worry with signing him what’s he actually done the last few years yes Davies worked with him for a couple of years at Leicester but that was a good while ago and when grey was last playing regularly I just hope he can get back to his best if he does come because he is /was a good player
So on that basis you wouldn’t have taken Stephen Carr either? he was retired when we signed him.
If Gray is good enough for you then you are going to be severely disappointed this season. I don’t think Mo Salah is available so your expectations are not going to be met mate 👍🏼
He clearly isn’t settled or adapting to life in Saudi, which could easily damage his form.

Played 33 games in the premier league 2 years ago?
I’m going with the ‘glass half full’ option. He will return to his spiritual home, at a very good age and he will be completely reinvigorated. I can see him and Iwata developing a great relationship and theyll create shed loads for Stanno to put away. What’s not to like?
Especially if he's had a hard time settling in Saudi. He'll be so relieved to be home that it'll possibly even boost his game?
I was unsure at first, I'm very much a 'never go back' person, but the more of this talk about him comes out the more I'm liking the idea.
Played in a difficult country to settle in. He will be fine, hes a step up in quality,
Hunger is the biggest challenge with him, has he still got the fire in his belly? If he has he’d be one of the best players in the league
I think people are overlooking the hard facts about Gray coming back to Blues...
* He has the potential to improve the team
* If he's not fit or committed he won't improve the team
* If he can recapture the form he showed In the PL he will improve the team
* If he can't recature the form he showed in the PL he won't improve the team
Anything beyond those facts is merely opinion based on nothing but supposition as we, as posters, are not party to his thought processes or to any discussions he has had with those at Blues
“I had lived in Birmingham all my life. Even when I was at Leicester I’d commute because that’s home to me; all I ever knew,
