With the rumour mill in overdrive thoughts on former players returning? Good or bad examples...

Devlin was a success and Jose Bellingham is going to be in 28/29.

Craig Gardner returned, was fine to start with and then really tailed off.

Bielik has been great largely.

Not Blues, but Drogba went back to Chelsea and helped them win the Premier League. Paul Scolex came out of retirement and was pretty decent for Man U. But I guess Rooney going back to Everton is the best example.

When Jude returns in a few years, he will be immense again.

Robert Hopkins was still good when he returned in the early 90s.

Paul Peschisolido was a failure though. From memory I think he only scored once during his second spell.

I don’t think Hoppy was any good in the 90’s

On a technicality, Stansfield....?

It generally doesn't work out because typically players leave in their prime, and return past their prime

If you sell someone young and bring them back before they've gone over the hill, I reckon your odds are much improved

I dunno, I reckon Pesch scored fairly regularly when Kaz was working from her office at the training ground....

Peter Shearer, although that is a bit of a default better return.

Only 5 apps in 84/85 and then came back for 2 games in 93/94 and 31 appearances, 12 goals in 94/95.

Yeah, i dont think it's anything to do with them being ex players. Its more to do with signing a past it player based on a mix of either nostalgia or their allegiance.

Eg Deeney.
