It's all about opinions and you've made a good case but TBH I don't agree.

For me, he's very obviously a modern number 9. His strengths are finishing, creating something out of nothing in the box and running from deeper at defenders with the ball on the counter. And - obviously - pressing.

Very much like Vardy. Or Forsell.

Our dilemmas is - is he so good at what he does that we build the team around him or are there more effective set ups for the Champ which mean he might play a more limited role.

It’s a squad game, hardly any teams build a team around a player and haven’t for years. You build a team to fit a number of different sets of tactics. Messi, Ronaldo excepted. I don’t even think Man City build around Haaland.

So there’s no dilemma.

Quite a few on here seem to think that apart from only needing 11 players, we're basically already in the prem and should be looking to sign Isak or Delap asap.

We've gone from moaning about players and managers being shit (which for nearly a decade they were tbf) to thinking we're effing massive and a 22 year old with 40 goals in two seasons needs to be shipped out.

I blame Charcy mainly.

Charcy is a right prick, coming on here bringing positivity and being correct all the time. The handsome tw@t.

Easy solution…play 2 up front!

Is the correct answer, only took five pages for someone to be brave enough to say it. You're gonna get right pelters now mate 🤣.

We got 111 points and scored over 100 goals in a season in all comps playing one upfront. Not going to change the system because some stegosaurus’ can’t get along with it.

Well said.

Why do people think Stansfield has pace? He's speedy enough, but he doesn't have game-changing pace by any means. That means he can't really run the channels too often and he's also not strong enough to hold the ball up. He's got excellent technique and touch in the right area - which to me is coming in off the left of right corner of the box.

I agree, people are acting like he’s a pace merchant and i’ve seen a few people comparing him to Vardy. He’s not slow but he’s also not exceptionally quick. I think his work rate is exceptional and some of his instinctive finishing is good.

Yeah he is more about work rate and being an intelligent footballer. He’s a bit like Alan Smith in his early Leeds days in that sense, before he want to Man United.

So you’re saying we should convert him into a mediocre-to-crap defensive midfielder?

Good summary, fairly quick but not lightning. He's normally got a good touch, but this can also let him dow at times. His work rate is phenomenal and I think he's a good finisher as well, but he needs to work on his movement and thay killer instinct to sniff out more chances. We paid over the odds, pretty sure I've seen him admit that himself, bit that doesn't mean he's not a good player with loads of potential.

Have we though? Do you know how much we have paid up front?

No just saying what he plays a bit like. Also people like maligning Man United midfielders under Ferguson. They seem to have done the job he was looking for them to do.

That's a good point, without knowing the fee, I probably should have said we've probably paid over the odds for him. Even at slightly lower than the lowest fees mentioned, I think we've overpaid, but I still really rate him and I'm glad he's here.
