Probably because it’s seemingly to many the most blatant and likely to be happening within a mile of their homes, it’s more in your face than insider training
It’s all very shit but it’s easy to see why people are more aware of dodgy bob shops than insider trading and the like
Nobody knows who is or isn’t money laundering, but apparently Scotland Yard are missing out on a few thousand top tier detectives if they can sniff them out that easily.
It’s just lazy, baseless accusations.
You literally don't have an answer except whataboutery.
For the record I have no doubt some of these places are fronts for criminal enterprise. I'm just pointing out the Tates ( Mone, thanks Rab) and 100s of other examples easily googled aren't the subject of similar excitement.
Have a great day 👍
TandyHow the feck would the average joe have a clue about insider trading 😄 what are these multiple whitey frauds you talk of.
The average Joe doesn’t have a clue about money laundering either but mention barbers or vape shops and the accusations of it fly around almost immediately, as is evident on this thread.
There’s been quite a few shops raided tbf Tandy it’s not like it doesn’t happen
You’re right no one knows who is and isn’t laundering or selling counterfeit stuff but it happens as the stats by the NCA prove
Crime is rife it’s everywhere, including some barbers, car washes and bob shops
To deny it happens is a mad as thinking it’s every shop
So basically, there are a very few shops in the UK that are a front for criminals. Well, blow me down, who'da thunk that eh?

I wouldn't go that far:

That’s because they drive and walk past these places everyday and see the amount and how busy they aren’t. It’s not a conspiracy theory.
Anecdotes aren’t evidence.
Walking past a shop for 30 seconds a day and it being quiet does not mean they are criminals.
Good article. The decline of the High Street. When the legit trade dries up, the criminals move into the vacuum left behind. It's a story as old as there has been civilisation, tbh. Cracking down on it is relatively easy, if the Rozzers/Trading Standards had the proper funding and manpower. They haven't.
When there are 5/6 within a few hundred yards it’s a big giveaway.😉
El Hijo de QuarkioIt isn't all Turkish barbers, and it isnt just Turkish Barbers. Sweet and Dessert shops, Nail bars, American Sweet shops, even some chippies and cafes are used for laundering purposes. I think the government will want to look like they're cracking down on it, but thy don't want to really crack down on it. IMO a large number of UK high streets are kept afloat and kept alive by illegal activity.
As others have said there's far too many businesses that are empty all day, yet have been operating for years. Almost as if, it doesn't matter if they make money legitimately. Some of the people trying to frame this as racism, are either exceptionally naive, or they're just labelling people as racist as they know they're losing the debate.
Not racist:
"Compared to average, Turkish Barbers are X % more likely to be involved in (insert crime)" - where X is a substantiated fact.
Racist
"All/most Turkish Barbers are involved in (insert crime)" i.e. people are judging them to be criminal mainly because of their skin colour/ethnicity.
We pride ourselves on being a non-racist/inclusive fanbase but there are a lot more of our fans with racist attitudes/prejudices around than anyone cares to admit.
Bluesince65Blockdclothes shop on stratford road. Same clothes on the rails for about 30 years. They havent sold anything and they are still open everyday!!
Like the leather goods shop just off Mell square in Solihull. Been there donkeys years and window display never changes, no one ever shopping in there. Now surely rent in Solihull must be pricey so what’s the story there?
Some landlords will either heavily subsidise or straight up pay the rates/rent etc if it's in an area of high vacancy.
I think you'll find Mell Square falls into that category, especially as it's all getting knocked down in the next few years.
