Soak over night in vinegar and bicarb of soda. Distilled vinegar if you have it.
Get the BBQ as hot as you can immediately after you have finished cooking, if you have a lid or cover use that until everything is white hot and reduced to ash. Then just use a wire brush to remove the ash.
Always try and avoid using any chemicals on the bars that you will be cooking on. Get them as non stick as you can before you start cooking as that will save time. πππ»
Brush it with oil before cooking, get it as hot as you can after cooking and use tin foil. Some people never clean them, when you use it again,it gets that hot it kills any bacteria on the grill.
Buy the aluminium trays
Barebacking on the grill, you animal
Jet wash it .
This. Works a treat if you have a "Real BBQ".
It's why i go to other peoples houses for barbeques.I'm going to one tomorrow .I have three mates who like to play chef .I'm reguarly told " you should get one" and i reply " yeh i might".Then i pretend to be interested in the latest bargain spotted etc
In reality i'm thinking not a feckin chance .I'm not sweating cooking for everybody, having you tramp all over my garden ,eating me out of house and home ,necking all my booze .You all then pop off home while i scrub my barbe , and clean up after you.
Not on your nelly .
TandyMetal scourer and an enzyme based cleaner.
Pro tip: get a peeled onion on a fork, dip it in oil and rub it across and up and down the grill bars when theyβre smoking hot just before cooking. Itβll make them non stick.
Cheers Tandoori I'll try that π
Herefordshire Cider BoozerHi. I need help with cleaning my BBQ grill. I'm getting through a Brillo Pad every time I clean my grill. Tonight I cooked a Tom Kerridge chicken wings meal from scratch from his recipe book. It took me a good 20 minutes to clean. One of the main ingredients was honey. I think honey sticks to the grill more?
Tomorrow I'm cooking burgers which hopefully will be easier to clean off the grill.
What are your recommendations for cleaning the grill quickly and easily?
Half an onion.
I just saw Tandy's answer and I agree.

Firstly, simply drag your cooker/oven out of your kitchen, removing gas/electrical cables. Once in place, put any combustible material into the oven compartment. I've always used an old tyre from my mobility scooter. Douse the tyre with petrol and light. Once the flames have reached the grill, place any meat of your choice on the cooker. Once cooked to your liking, use any household cooker cleaning fluid to clean off excess meat juices. Then replace your cooker back in its original location in the kitchen. No need for expensive BBQ's plus your wife will love the fact that you've cleaned her cooker into the bargain!
