Hotel fees seem a bit of a luxury in Wednesdays present state (especially for such short journeys) personally if I was a player I would be happy to travel on the day if the money saved is moved back into finding wages for players.

It seems to be getting to the point where a decision will have to be made as to whether they should be allowed to start the season.

The money spent on hotel rooms for one night the squad and the backroom staff probably wouldn't cover a weekly wage for their lowest paid player.

I have not seen that story but if its true then how are they going to fund matchdays. Stewards, Operational staff, bar and catering staff etc.

Do the EFL only get involved once one of their matches does not go ahead or is at risk of not taking place??
Turn left when you get on a plane.

On The Guardian Football pod, a couple of the guests said the EFL basically don't give a sh*t as long as the game can be played. If it's 11 kids and the kitman running things they're happy.

I remember reading, a few years ago, that one of the reasons that players, in these circumastances, won't play is because often the insurance payments aren't up to date ... meaning that if they play and are seriously and permanently injured then they don't get the expected payouts they normally would

I don’t think that is fair on the EFL to be honest. I would take that with a pinch of salt.

They managed the Reading situation pretty well in the end.

Reading should have been liquidated, they kept moving the goalpost's.

Which in the end turned out with a better result for everyone than them being liquidated.

It came from a journalist who is a Bury fan and had lots of dealings with them over the issues Bury faced. He did say that things had improved somewhat since then.

He also said, TBF to the EFL, that they really have very little power to do much. But his ultimate view was that they have little interest regardless of their lack of power. As I say, a biased view but based on significant experience.
