Sounds pretty decent in the FT review!

Yeah, that sounds promising. I've always been a bit skeptical about football documentaries an over saturated market, but if it's really good hopefully it catches on.

Would be massive for Blues if it's successful.

Brumgrunt/Simon .. i went to your YouTube Channel - and subscribed - (and read the text review too). You've done this before haven't you ?

1,700 YouTube videos !!! That's going to keep me busy for a while

You're very very very good at this... both informative and watchable.

My main point, at the moment - apart from thanks for a great contribution - is this :

If it's going to 200 countries then there is bound to be a lot of criticism ... but we only ever hear from the people who want to criticise - that still leaves a massive massive amount of people who will be watching and not commenting, and millions and millions of people exposed to Blues for the first time ever.

Glad you didn't think it was awful - and i'll probably watch all the episodes over the weekend

For others ..

Appreciate this. I've been making print film magazines and doing movie podcasting from Halesowen for a long time now (launched a website called Den of Geek before this, although nowt to do with it now.)

In terms of the 200 countries: that's the big thing, I think. For Blues fans, the Brady elements felt a bit thin to me. But for the broader reach of the 'project', they're pretty vital. His name's in the title for a reason.

I used to read Den of Geek regularly !!

Small world! Launched that in 2007, edited it until 2018 (again, primarily from Halesowen). Used to occasionally manage to sneak the odd keep right on in there.

Same. The episode recaps were invaluable when I'd say scrolling on my phone instead of paying attention.

I used to read that too.

I liked your review - at first I saw it was half an hour and thought this was going to be a long watch but it didn’t feel so.

I liked your perspective about the difficulty of being neutral but that FT review suggests it does appeal to a less ‘committed’ audience, or at least can do. I think it comes across that you don’t find Brady that interesting a character and though of course there are very obvious reasons for the focus on him I wonder how that will play out long term.

Thanks.

I don't really want to 'spoil' it in advance for people, which is why I held back a tiny bit in the review tbh. Will share more thoughts when everyone else has discovered it for themselves. Always figure when reviewing my job isn't to give the secrets and details away.

I like I've found a well of old Den Of Geek readers though. Used to do a magazine called Micro Mart from Brindley Place, too. Never realised that's where Blues used to put up some of their new signings!

I remember your name from Micro Mart, Simon, as a fellow writer of computer magazines. Followed you to Den of Geek and glad to see Film Stories still going strong (my eldest daughter had a subscription to the Junior title when she was younger). Great review - it had to have been, given I read it on the website and then sat through the entire video!

(Oh, and I approve of your hoarding - you should see the state of my 'office'...)

No, but he posted just about and DMed you both!

(I went Atari 2600 > Dragon 32 > Spectrum > Amiga > PC. Bypassed the ST!)
