Won’t be the pitch they’ll be worried about. It will be fan safety going to or at the ground.

Albeit didn’t matter when the Main Stand roof fell in. Against Wolves, was it?

Yep I remember it well
A large Piece of the main stand roof got rip off and barrelled across the roof before hurtling down into the paddock seats end wise
Sheer luck that someone wasn’t seriously injured or worse that day
Could’ve cut someone in half
Wolves fans were singing what a f……. Sh….e !

Think it went off outside big style also
It was a piece off the executive boxes roof and n the paddocks that fell into the last block of paddock seating nearest the Tilton. They were 2 up I think and we drew 2 all. They were miles clear of Albion at the time in 2nd place but fell apart after that game and Albion finished 2nd and got into the Prem for the first time in 16 years. We followed after winning the play offs

According to the forecast tomorrow's weather is going to be pissing down with rain, named storm, gale force winds in the north of Wales.

Any chance of tika taka are well out the window and we dont do well with long balls.

Might be a slogfest. Called off perhaps ?

So it's forecast to be extremely windy and your suggestion is to abandon short sharp passing and instead lump the ball long into the "gale force winds"?

Logical.

Brand new pitch with improved draining installed in the summer, a bit breezy, it really shouldn't need calling off.

Picture of steward carrying the roof piece here. Don't think it was "iron" - looks like "Supalux" corrugated roof to me.

I reckon if that had dropped onto the pitch mid game Muskat would have gone through it with a two footed challenge.

Yeah that's exactly what i said... except erm, i didn't.
I also called apparently for it to be abandoned according to someone above.

I said neither of those things and certainly made no suggestions what so ever.

I asked a question (called off perhaps?) and made a statement about the wind maybe dictating play.

Try reading properly next time.

Yes.

Based on high winds, rain and football, I made a statement that we don't do the long ball well. Implying that the conditions may stop us playing one way and force us into another.
Still looking to see where I suggested anything.

And "called off perhaps?"... is a question to the forum. Not "It should be called off!" Totally different meaning.

Sorry I'm still not seeing your point.

It will be a battle this evening. We're not really that combative a team these days.

It's dawned on me that they're still doing the watchalong at the Knighthead fan park this evening. There might not be a roof left after tonight!

Bit differen up here. I am doing NC500 and on N/E Coast, the storm is to hit later today with 80mph gusts.

It's gusting 60-70 mph here in Holyhead at the moment. If anyone has a spare for tonight so I can have a bit of respite in sheltered Wrexham, I'd be very grateful. It'll take me about an hour and forty minutes from here to Wrexham but if the wind moves round to the West then I can make it a bit quicker 😁

I still think it was crazy not to call that game off after the roof blew off. They didn't even empty the stand
There was no way of telling whether any more panels might come off in the wind. You can't do a safety assessment in 5 minutes, especially without examining what has happened.
If another piece blew off and hit someone the club would have been clearly negligent.

We had a game at Leicester called off when cladding came off the hotel by the ground. And that was when there was no further cladding left up there to come off.

Humble apologies for my earlier comments regarding wind speeds at Wrexham tonight.
I read the temperature at 15 as the wind speed. I have just checked the met office regarding Wrexham tonight
and it is wind speeds of 42mph at kick off reducing to 30mph by 10pm.
