Senior lads in the dressing room think hes 'having himself' a bit too much
Others intimidated by him
Tommy Tuchel clipping his wings and flexing his own manageral muscles to make a point
Tbf England have looked a lot more fluid with our forwards and midfielders really taking on defenders in the last few games. Tuchel might b an proving a point, who knows, but it would seem very very strange of someone if Jude Bellingham’s ability isn’t in our best team.
I'd also point out that was probably the weakest qualifying group we've ever had.
Part of that podcast discussion focusses on whether Tommy should pick the best players or the best team. It’s quite interesting.

I havn’t listened to the podcast but that is an interesting area for discussion. On face value picking the best players, Bellingham, Foden, Palmer etc should in theory give you a better chance of winning a major trophy. That said, when Forest won the European Cup in 1979 and 1980 they arguably didn’t have the best players around at the time but they did have a team spirit and way of playing that brought them great success. Probably helped by having one of the greatest ever managers at the helm.

I think there is some truth in it but When picking the squad, Bellingham is a player who covers the whole midfield to an exceptional standard, is used to playing with tactical discipline when needed and playing, and winning, in high pressure games. Foden covers across the attacking midfield positions and like Bellingham is used to playing and winning high pressure games.
I don't think that applies as much for Palmer - he isn't as discipline tactically nor as experienced. But 1 down with 20 minutes to go in a WC semi-final, would you rather Tuchel was sending on Henderson, Loftus-Cheek and Bowen or Bellingham, Foden and Palmer? Bellingham in particular has shown repeatedly that he is, as the Americans say, 'clutch" - the man for the big moments, who will change the course of a high stakes game.

Don’t get me wrong, Bellingham and Palmer in particular would be in my ‘best team’ in a big game at a major tournament every time. Just pointing out that a collection of the best individuals around can be beaten by a group with lesser ability.
Tuchel has them firing and playing at a tempo that is very pleasing on the eye. And without some very good players. Trust Tommy Egghead

Question on Morgan is what can he do when he's not seeing the ball. Was very quiet yesterday. I rate him as decent, but if Bellingham is a 9/10 player as a forward playing midfielder, Morgan is an 8/10.
Plus Bellingham has the same score rating in whichever position he plays from box to box.
I think he’s doing well. But we see in the media (mainly starting with the Press) that reverses will fire up the ‘kraut’ references. For the moment the guns are trained on Jude Bellingham. The press knows this stuff sells. Bigging up an antagonism is grist to the mill.

Bellingham’s level is way above Morgan, though he’s been good in that free role not getting a lot of pressure in recent games.
We have played a Serbia team who gave up and struggled this week to beat Andorra. Then Wales who are a shadow of the team they have been
In a very low key friendly. Latvia whose players almost totally play in their domestic league.
I am glad the likes of Rogers, Anderson, Lewis-Skelley and Gordon have shown they can be relies upon. But honestly if we think that team even performing at their best gets beyond the quarterfinals I think that is wishful thinking.
We need Jude, Saka. Palmer and Foden all integral to the team but not all starting together. In the long term Tommy thinking his second string are sufficient could be his undoing.

How can you have Jude, Palmer, and Foden 'integral to a team but not all starting together' in a squad that will play a maximum of 8 games together?
With Morgan Rogers on top of that - who it looks like will go to the World Cup - we can't only have the same attacking creative profile of player clogging up the squad but not playing. I know Jude will play anywhere but he obviously sees himself as a 10 these days. There aren't enough games to have a squad overrepresented in that position, it's silly to think we need to bring them all
Because matches are about finishers as much as starters these days. All of those mentioned could be involved in matches (especially given likelihood of extra time) without starting them all at once.
