Sure this was the game where I was behind the railway goal during the warm ups and booted a ball back, which landed straight on Muscat's head and ended up with a big cheer when it happened 🤣
I have always had a soft spot for Rangers (my dad was a fan) but muscat will always be in my top ten of players (or former players) I detest, so really hoping he doesn't become manager.
Nah it was a 3pm Saturday game
I have vivid memories of Myhre banging his studs on the post whilst Wolves were waiting to take a penalty, it was excellent shithousery
Is that Iwata, bottom left of the first picture?
El MayorevanioMartin O’Connor took a red for him. I guess Australian sportsmen like the niggle, but this wasn't cricket snd he kopped one.
Great day. Won. Keeper on emergency loan saved a pen. Proper nasty atmosphere and it kicked off pre arranged away from the ground, never mind the fun about the ground.
Didn't we finish with nine men that day?
Grainger should have been sent off as well.
Slid straight through Muscat when we were down to 9. The ref bottled sending a third Blues player off.
The atmosphere at the game was very moody throughout. Both fans and players.
One of their fans was left in a coma in Balsall Heath after fighting there.
I have two enduring memories of that game. Obviously the O Conner sending off, but strangely Thomas Myhre running towards the Tilton like Marco Tardelli after his goal in the WCF in 82 after the pre game hand shakes
LondonAndyThe elbow. [www.youtube.com]">
That is a punch with his right hand. Not an elbow.
O'Connor was sent off twice for Blues for hitting Muscat. Once at Palace.
We won both games 1-0.
I think they were his only red cards for us.
I hope Muscat was feigning. that looked a pretty solid impact. That was a bullet of a header for the goal.

pretty sure it was the same game, in the same corner as the Muscat punch, the ball was going out for a Wolves corner and a photographer or steward ran on and kicked it to Myhre without the ref noticing
I think O'Connor hit him properly.
Muscat had grabbed O'Connor's nipple. It's unsurprising O'Connor was not best pleased.
Furlong was sent off at Reading in 1998 for a fairly forceful punch. He just turned round and smashed the player full in the face. It wasn't clear why, but I assume it was for a racist comment.
Marden went shortly afterwards for elbowing the same player.
I meant wasn’t feigning!!
Ps it does look like Muscat was up to something before O’Connor reacted - he’s just a very nasty piece of work.
O'Connor was pretty solid back then. I think he did a fair bit of weight training.
Him & Grainger both gave the distinct impression of genuinely disliking Muscat.
I miss the days when players would occasionally take a proper swing at someone.
