We are midtable for goals conceded so I take it that we don't give away many chances but we do give away big chances when we do so.
It was the same at the start of last season. Our goals conceded does not suggest that we are far and away the worst defence.
It looks like that stat is capturing more noise than pattern.
I don't think 11 goals conceded in 9 games is a big problem. It's more that we aren't scoring enough goals. 8 in 9 is not a great return. We should be on 14 or 15 if we want to be a decent side. If we fix that the goals we are conceding will be much less of a problem

We're conceding a large proportion of our goals from these though.
If we can sort it out, our defence will be excellent.
I know some people disregard xG but it is a reasonable representation of the pattern of games, if not necessarily the results.
We are 4th best team in the league for XG for minus XG against:

Yes. Suggests that good times are around the corner - especially if Kyogo can go on a run & we can defend dead balls better.

that is just on crosses i think, and we're shite at defending set pieces. our xGA in open play is very good
Just looking at this we're not giving up many shots but when we do there usually good opportunities - [theanalyst.com]
fradgeespecially if Kyogo can go on a run
if he goes on a run no-one will pass the ball to him

I saw this post last night and my first thought was 'so what?'
it measures who stops crosses and blocks shots, having watched Chris Davies sides for over a year now it is not often we sit on the edge of our box defending for our lives, we defend using possession of the football and probably discourage players diving in front of things unless absolutely necessary.
stats are fun (if you are sad like me) but all they do is tell one part of a story, you need all the data to paint a fuller picture.
