I dunno, always thought he’s looked head and shoulders even in the championship last time.

I don’t think he or iwata are the problem tbh. It’s the recruitment around them.

I think we had a solid base to bring younger players around like on the wings and at full back and up front.

Klarer and Neuman, Paik and Iwata with more youthful options could have worked.

Now they are lumbered with older players who are either past it or close to passing it and it all feels a bit like a wasted chance to develop something

So premier league winner Demarai Gray who is in the prime of his career or Patrick Roberts who played 45 games in promotion winning Sunderland’s team, or Jay Stansfield who just gone and won the under 21 European championship arent good enough for Paik and Iwata and that’s the problem. Got it.

Yes. They are. Just because they are names doesn’t mean they will automatically work out.

Gray is inconsistent and we’ve signed Roberts about 5 years too late.

It’s all a bit hap hazard. There philosophy this season was tried and tested. If it doesn’t work, it’s not just down to the two centre midfielders

He played 75 mins a game for a championship promotion winning team last season and you’re saying we signed him 5 years too late? How does that work.

Wingers are often inconsistent but when he’s been fit Gray has been one of our better players consistently this season looking a step above

Thank you

There's too much hyperbole when we win and when we lose. I've been impressed with Dimmi, but he looks like he's carrying a knock for the last few games

Roberts has done nothing wrong too

FFS Jay Stansfield was also a regular in that team

Paik is a solid championship player. Neat and tidy on the ball, but without the cutting edge and creativity that Doyle provides

The same Doyle that seems to always look shot after an hour.

One of Davies biggest mistakes has been not figuring out what to do with the ‘10’ role which is either another midfielder or a second striker.

He didn’t need to think that much about it last season as most teams we played were utter rubbish but this season he’s been found wanting and even now not got an answer.

So they are meant to be inconsistent. Ok. Bail them out but the centre midfielders are the problem.

IMO we should have signed younger players with a higher long term ceiling to complement the current squad.

I’m an idealist. A pretty simple sod. But Doyle was injured v Ipswich but would’ve started. Instead he started Kyogo and we ran them ragged for an hour. A superb performance. Exactly what we want to see. A high energy, high press showing.
That we have stopped picking a similar line and style is crazy imo
Alive. Early starter. Enricher of lives
Onel Hernandez
Was he that bad today?

I thought Keshi had an absolute shocker, but Paik didn't stand out apart from the one obvious mistake.

Getting absolute pelters on twitter.

He played OK, apart from the mistake, but he's a part of the overall problem IMO. CD seems to play him no matter what, why play him as a number 10? He doesn't have any of the attributes needed there IMO. He's suited to a midfield 2 or 3, but he's not a number 10 at all.

CD needs to make some changes:

Tweak our approach. Play the ball a lot quicker, and look to get in behind teams much more.

Put Alsopp back in - At present he's a better GK than Beadle, and his kicking is far superior. When you consider how much we go back to the keeper, we need to play the one who's better with the ball at his feet.

Get BOS back in at RB until Laird is fit. Then get Laird back in and stick with him. He's our best RB by a fecking mile.

Keep Neumann and Klarer as CB pairing.

Drop Paik for a run of games, and give Doyle a go alongside Leonard (or Iwata if he's not needed at RB) This isn't based off one mistake yesterday. Doyle is far more forward thinking, which we need if we're going to try and get in behind teams more.

Either go 433 and sack off the number 10, or play someone there who might actually create chances and/or score a few goals.

No im saying it tends to happen hence why most teams have 4/5 of them that are constantly getting minutes.

Even so your argument doesn’t hold water as Dimmi and Roberts have been far better than Paik this season.

Your recruitment strategy is also highly contradicted as we went and got a player 4 years younger than Paik who has looked like our MOM when he’s played centre mid, whilst Paik has looked generously and your saying he shouldn’t start over him.

I think our summer recruitment largely has been led by Davies philosophy (who he himself said was largely involved) because I don’t think he trusts young players and doesn’t play them anyways. Leonard being the prime example of this last season.

Really? Because literally no wolves fan I’ve spoke to and I work with a team of them has said that even when I pointed it out last week and regardless even if he is, play him for 60 mins and sub him, I’d rather make subs at 60 mins being a goal ahead than a goal behind

I dunno, always thought he’s looked head and shoulders even in the championship last time.

He seemed a breath of fresh air when we signed him because he was vastly different to Sunjic and Bielik. He seemed neat and tidy and to give us a different option in that midfield 2.

However, he had some games where he was totally anonymous. He also struggled to get many goals or assists. He got one goal against Norwich I think and 0 assists. I remember him giving the ball away quite a lot. But he was definitely better on the ball than Bielik or Sunjic.

Think this is a case of rose tinted glasses - there was no showing in that half season in the Championship he was a top 6 player let alone “head and shoulders” above other players.

If you look at his stats from 23/24 he was very average.

Comparing players in different positions, silly.

Who has looked like the mom? Doyle or Leonard. Neither have looked a cut above to me. Isn’t it 10 million to sign Doyle next season? How much was Paik? Free transfer wasn’t it.

I’m talking about the lack of clarity on a successful 4 in front of Paik and Iwata. That’s Davies biggest challenge and he’s yet to find a solution.

For me, it should be flat 433 with one of Doyle and Kanya alongside Paik and Iwata. Then he needs to figure out the front three.

It’s all a bit of a mess.

I’m seeing what I’m seeing. I watch and I see. I’ve seen utter shite like Davis and Kieftenbeld. Paik, for me, is fantastic. A wonderful player. But standards have been raised, by the owners especially so players that are good are going to get the hyperbolic treatment now. Sad really
