JourneyOnHughBlue2JourneyOnI think Paik is the most naturally talented midfielder we’ve had in my lifetime tbh.
I am in shock at this statement. Wouldn’t get near any of our premier league midfields.
Feels like a very over exaggerated statement.
Natural talent and applied talent are two different things. Then you have to be playing in systems that magnify your strengths and minimise your weaknesses.
I imagine we’ve not had too many players at Barca level but they no doubt were missing some applied talent too.
One of the most naturally talented players we have had in recent years was Bacuna. His technical ability was great. No one will like that though because everyone moaned about him when he played for us and then it ended sourly.
Off that basis also Alen Halilovic must be right up there.
A kid who can constantly get into his national side and play at the top level
And we are comparing him to bacuna
We don’t deserve nice things

Lol. You think off natural talent alone Bacuna wasn’t talented?
What top level does he play at club level?
He has 3 top 5 European division appearances.
Paik is a good player for sure and i’m positive some of his weaknesses are amplified by this system. He does have some weaknesses as much as he obviously has some clear positives.
But lets not act like he’s some worldly talent because he’s not.

Not saying he is a worldy talent - just that he can play for S Korea in a v decent national side

Whatever you do, don't check out his goals and assists...
Or shouldn't we be expecting any?

I know - that comment was aimed at the person that said he was the best talent they have seen for us in their lifetime lol.
It is good he gets in the South Korea side obviously and happy to see him do well for them.

It's also perfectly acceptable to say a player hasn't performed particularly well this season.

I mean, Juninho Bacuna also constantly got into his national side as well…

Ah yes the mighty caracao. Yes cos that’s the same playing for a small Caribbean island
Fwiw I liked bacuna as a player. He had good technique, but to compare him as a footballer to Paik is laughable

I really don’t think it’s laughable, for the record I think Paik is a better play than Bacuna, but not by the golf ‘laughable’ suggests.
I’d also say when we needed it the year we went down Bacuna came and gave it 100%, he did alot me to try and not get us relegated than Paik, think there was a fair few games the last half of the season he was our MOTM

You know what, im changing my opinion, they played together for 6 months and Bacuna was the better player.

South Korea aren't a good side, and he is a squad player
Bacuna for Blues:
111 games
13 goals
15 assists
Paik for Blues:
82 games
3 goals
4 assists
Bare in mind, Paik played a season in League One, whereas Bacuna only played in the Championship.
Bacuna gets a raw deal from some blues fans, I hope seeing this helps to put things into perspective.
Carlos CostlyThey play in totally different positions tbf. Paik is a deep lying playmaker most of the time. Bacuna was an attacking midfielder. I like both btw and wanted us to keep BacunaBacuna for Blues:
