Paik is our best player. By miles.
I love him but is shooting gets on my tits. He’s great with both feet but shoots high too often. Saturday being one example. It does annoy me

Paik was one, if not the best player we had in the second half of our relegation season. We fully expected him to leave us when we went down . So I don't personally accept he is was simply an effective league 1 player. I feel that is the case with Keshi, Allsop and maybe Cochrane and the manager I guess felt that with May, TGH and Davies.

He should be dropped if his form isn't good or we just need to try a different solution but I don't buy all this about him not being a very good championship player.

I'm really not sure he was our best player, I remember him being distinctly average like this season tbh.

He was key for the Mowbray team and dropped off under Venus, same as everyone did (and in his case had the excuse of having just completed a full season in a different country before joining us).

Finally he was good but not great under Rowett - showed clear ability but playing in a style that didn't suit him.

Personally I think of the 3 teams he played in, the Mowbray one is what we want to look the most like (comfortable on the ball but playing at pace and stretching the pitch vertically), and the one he looked a top class player in.

If he doesn’t fancy that sort of player then he isn’t going to get very far with the tactics and player profile we have now.

We’re starting games with only 2 players above 6ft no wonder we struggle to score from set pieces.

In Pre-Season he said the main priorities were adding athleticism and becoming better on set pieces

I'd therefore say that he probably does want bigger, faster, more athletic profiles, I'd also say he's not been provided with them.

I think Doyle is better than him and I am hopeful he will prove this with a run of games.

Although different positions, I would also have Klarer, Roberts, Gray and Stanno on the team sheet before Paik (very tempted to also add Kyogo).

Whilst I'm not happy with how it's panned out I'm pretty cheesed off at the abuse I got for saying this when the window closed, only for now everyone to start agreeing (not you).

I'm banking a lot on Ducksch coming good. If he does, everything else flows.

My issue was never that we’d want that kind of player. Of course you do. Just that they don’t grow on trees.

Not to say we couldn’t do it if the cards had been played differently, just that the ol ‘fast strong athletic striker’ is what every man and his dog is after and they cost a pretty penny.

There was quite a few of us wanting this not because we’re football savvy but because we know what it takes to be good in the championship.

I have no idea where this rose tinted glasses revisionism has come about Paik in that half season.

He was average with a couple of very good games but also a couple of really bad ones.

We thought he’d leave because he wouldn’t want to play League One - mainly because when we sold the project we wouldn’t have made relegation seem a possibility to a single player we signed in the summer and Jan window of that year.

I think it developed because he looks good on the ball, in comparison to who we had previously.

Unfortunately he does nothing with it for games on end, but he sure fails in style.

This thread is a great reference point to list all the dim witted on this forum

As has been said on this forum multiple times and in much more articulate ways, if you don’t rate Paik, you haven’t got a clue what you’re watching. He’s the complete midfielder, the best we’ve had since Fahey and for those keeping score he has 3 G/A for the season and the rest of those playing central midfield have 0 between them

People can’t see what’s infront of their eyes sometimes, and last week when he mislead a pace in bristols final third that led to a counter attack, that was all they needed.
