If its pissing down then fair enough
There's no let up tonight though it's completely filled in there's no escaping it so it rather depends on circumstances e.g. if you've got to work hard to get somebody else to the ground and away again herding cats to get them all to the game then you might baulk at venturing out with it already dark now. Many will opt for the red button tonight

Based on their usual level of support midweek there will be about 67 Millwall fans

1150 tickets sold

We often only take about that number to Millwall for a midweek away game.
It's a late night if you have to work the next day.
We took 3525 to Preston recently. Our away support hasn’t been this good for the best part of 50 years. My lifetime anyway. We’d sell out midweek at Millwall now I reckon

Probably. Especially if we only get upstairs.
I am sure last time we were there midweek they sold tickets from the far end then only opened up the middle blocks on the night. There were loads of empty seats there. I do not know why people won't go.
With Coward's Way to and from the station it is fine these days.

It's not like it was I first went for a League Cup game and there were about 400 away fans in total. About half were going back to London Bridge. We had an enormous Police escort which was attacked twice by Millwall fans on the very short walk up to the station.
On the plus side we won the tie. Drew on the night I think.

Many unsold in the Upper Railway End tonight.

That's why we need to build the fan base so that when people can't make it or don't want to go there will be others to take up the seats. We have about 30k regularly engaged fans and 25k seats. It doesn't take many of those unable to make it before we struggle to sell.

TBF, 12,000 on the ST waiting list yet they decided to not sell a single one in the upper Railway End. Unless flying at the top of the league it's gonna be a tough sell.

They should have sold a couple of hundred up there IMO.
You are limited by the amount that you have to make available for non season ticket holders per game. Only way would be to have taken the new STs that were available away from other areas of the ground.

There was still wiggle room. Think we only sold 20,500 ST's in the end. In 2002 they sold 22,500.
The club said it was the highest amount ever recorded.

The club are wrong. We sold 22,500 in 2002 / 2004. We have sold less this time round.
How are you so sure of both of these figures?

The number was 22,500 in 2002. If that wasnt true and it was less than 20,500 then fair enough.

I am sure they sold ST's in the Upper Railway End back then though. Why they havent now is an odd one as your left with a whole tier unsold.

My season ticket was up there. Not the same since it was downgraded from Olympic status.

I’m just giving a bit of a balanced look on why people might not go tonight but I’ll be there. But I don’t think having 25k-26k tonight is a bad look or disappointing compared to the end of the Sullivan years and the past 10 years or so it’s pretty good going
Yeah I’ve said similar about the crowd 👍

To echo this, in the season we first went up to the Prem our average attendance was less than 22,000.

Other than the first few seasons in the prem, this is the best I can remember our support. In the last 10 or so years 20,000 on a Saturday was a decent attendance. Now we’re hitting 24,000+ on a Tuesday night.

That stat about our average attendance in first prem season immediately struck me as being wrong as I remember it largely being full. I was right - our average attendance that season was over 28k.

For 4 consecutive seasons we averaged 27-28k, Sullivan and Gold failed to capitalise as repeated ad nauseum since on this and other forums.

Good times though

I appreciate its fraught with challenges but how would people feel if they flogged off the remaining tickets for £5 if unsold a couple of hours before?

I’d rather see it full and have the added atmosphere than see empty seats, even if I’ve already paid for my ST at a higher price.
Problem with that is people wouldn’t buy tickets for any midweek game to get the same scenario happening regularly. It’s daft.
I cardiac arrested 6 years ago today. I didn’t come back to life to read saftness like that

Well I'll be there for the second and final game of my trip.

I was in the lower GM against Portsmouth and tonight Block 10 of the Tilton, and a bit of rain won't stop me hoping for another 4-0, though I doubt Millwall can be as poor as Pompey.

Sorry I got my phrasing totally messed up- I meant the season we went up to the prem in 01/02 not the first season in the prem
