Let's see if he helps us get promoted and then talk
He is vital to the team, to buy a similar player would probably cost between £7-10 million depending on where we got him from and their nationality

I think the best comparison to Klarer in recent years is Pontus Jansson who was at Leeds and Brentford.

Would be interesting to see if Klarer could adapt to them prem better than Jansson who’s pace was a major downfall.

Most of Klarers bookings are blocking off people about to do him for pace or bringing them down as they go past him.

I agree it would be hard to replace him. Frankly; I hope no one comes knocking and we just get to keep him for a very long time. He’s a great captain and very commanding.

Brighton are 390m in debt kept afloat by a single private owner. I'm not sure they are that great an example of how to run a football club.

A lot of prem clubs are in high debt.

If Tony Bloom wanted to sell he’s built one of the most long term stable clubs so they’d be absolutely fine.

[swissramble.substack.com]

They’re one of the most sustainable prem clubs with one of the lowest wage to turnover ratios of 56%

On companies house they have posted profits of £84 million for 2024 and £139 million for 2023.

So yes they have debt at face value, but they’re paying it off at a decent rate, it’s also interest free to their owner and due to Stadium and Training Ground investments. They don’t have any “bad debt” of owing external parties.

For context, Man United and Everton have over £500 million in debt to external parties and Spurs have over £800 million.

Well of course it’s his fault. One ref card in a career suggests that 2 for us in short order is an anomaly though. Seems to me a bit counter productive to decide that’s it for ever.

We run a tight ship. He's walked the gangplank.

if he's still here next time we have a CB out I'd bring him back in. He's then got the opportunity to show why we should keep him. Until then he is in my bad books.

I do think we almost take him for granted now

Last night he wasn't really in the conversation for MOTM but he was absolutely flawless, he won every single header, he carried the ball out, he passed it out, he lead the team, communicated all night, a perfect centre back performance, and yet we don't really speak about it too much because he does it so often

Not sure adults should have a 'favourite player' but he'd be mine if I had to have one, bloody love tha bastard
Everyone should have a favourite player. Whatever their age. It’s joyless to not have one or numerous
Alive. Early starter. Enricher of lives

Yeah agree with that. Klarer is a consistent 8/10 minimum every game, not exactly a high bar admittedly but he's the best centre back we've had since the prem days.

£15m? More?

I think 7-10 million at the moment. Potentially double that if he keeps on growing.

His lack of pace unfortunately caps his ceiling a little in my opinion.

Obviously I love him and he’s one of the most commanding centre backs we have had in years.

i wouldn't sell his left sock for that price personally.

Valuing players is always subjective. how much is the premier league worth to the club, £150m + ?
Can the club see themselves getting promoted without Klarer? looking at how we have struggled to find him a reliable partner i don't think finding a replacement is going to be easy.
Personally, right now, with his age and ability and his importance to what we are trying to achieve, i wouldn't entertain offers lower than £25 mill

Fair enough. If he gets back he has to do - er - better.

He’s worth more to us than he is to other clubs. I agree he’d be hard to replace.
