Thanks for posting that Wolvo....

Brings back memories being 14 and my first time on the Kop ,I was usually in the Paddock. Ticket was 30 pence iirc and it was heaving on the Kop with a cracking atmosphere........
I really thought it was going to be our year, but we won't go there!!
Fifty years ago. where does the time go?!

Each came across that last week on you tube and watched it ,1st time I’ve seen extended highlights of the game only ever seen our goal before ,great watch , I was at the game as a young lad sat on the railings front of the kop place erupted when we scored all I remember was the noise that day was very loud ,think the gate that day was 46 thousand ,anyone remember the actual attendance

It always surprises me just how poor the quality of football was in the 70s.

I was there, and I don't remember it being that bad, but today's game is like a different sport entirely.

Good fun, maybe, but ultimately a bit shit.
There's too much opinion and not enough fact.

It seemed exciting at the time! But lot of long ball stuff and some brutal tackles .

Terrible standard really. That tackle by Kenny Burns 👹. Remember talking to some Boro fans uptown before the game. Souness in the Boro side, looks good in some of the bits that feature him:

I noted from the commentary that this was when he was still SOW-ness (which is the pronunciation the rest of his family use and what he was known as at school) before he decided he wanted to be SUE-ness

Was there with my dad, sat in the Paddock that day. I remember my dad gave 2 Boro fans a lift to the ground who were waiting for the number 8 bus by the Fox & Goose Pub, Ward End. God knows how they ended up there.

I loved the midget midfielder Boro had who glided across the mudbaths that were 70s pitches.....Burns i think?

Bob Hatton interview, what an old fashioned gent! That Boro side was good, I forgot Jack Charlton was the manager.

Newblue remember the game well Hendrie’s spent most of the game niggling the out of Souness and Murdoch.

I remember the goal but little else. That was the year for us, Leeds and Ipswich played about 4 replays before West Ham surprisingly knocked Ipswich out. Not a bad side that Boro one, better than us really but home advantage told.

The highlights look pretty unflattering. The game
has advanced a lot in terms of pace and skill.
