Going purely on how the Stansfield transfer unfolded and the footage behind the scenes, I don't think the people in the room even knew if it was happening or not, let alone passing rumours to journos.
These deals seem very tentative for those who know everything, let alone those who know nothing.
So yeah take everything with a pinch of salt until confirmed. I like to see us improve the squad but im not sure what people get out of anxiously refreshing their screen and outrage when it falls apart with precisely zero reliable facts for context.

I’ve always held a deal ain’t done until they’re holding a scarf for good reason - things can and do change quickly.
In our past I can remember Dwight Yorke being in the Celtic boardroom when he signed for us because it changed in an instant; the stories of players changing direction on the motorway to go to different clubs for medicals are fairly frequent.
Truth is until the contract is signed even the people in the room cannot be 100% it will be done because of this - so it’s always best to be circumspect and sceptical.
