Seems like him and his agent are playing games.

Glad we called it off if that's true. No time for players acting like mercenaries like that

It certainly sounds that way, and at least they're quoting named sources within the parent club in this story.

I seem to remember a similar last minute hitch with BOS during the summer. That got ironed out eventually, so who knows. If this is a repeated pattern of him / his agent trying to hold interested clubs hostage then I agree with Amy. If they do it to you on the way in the door, they'll do it on the way out too.

Ceefax/Teletext was also a friend outside of local radio sports bulletin hours.. I’m sure I first saw we’d signed Martin Grainger and John Cornforth on the same evening at about 10pm.

Remember that premium rate no about transfers that most clubs and Blues had, called Clubcall or something?

Reading the place they take their quotes from, it doesn't sound like Mjalby are aware of any firm interest beyond us. So if he has pulled out in favour of another club, there sounds like some dodgy behaviour going on by his agent behind Mjalby's back.

I used to call from the office, trouble is you never knew when they would update the the recording so it was several calls a day, living outside the city it was the only way of getting news.

Eventually got rumbled and had to give a very grovelling apology, I'm sure the number was 0898 12 11 88, funny I can remember that but can't remember what I had for breakfast!

Yep. Expensive rate and they rambled on forever and most times I was never any more the wiser.

Except when TF joined as manager. He said he only shopped in the Premiership. We were signing a big name striker, just after Bruce joined. I’m on holiday and stood in a phone box calling Clubcall. It was Paul Furlong 🫤

I’m literally questioning my sanity that I’d do that as I typed it.

Seem to remember that Midlands Today reported that we had signed a lad from Brentford, cannot remember his name, who was their star player when we had actually signed Nicky Forster.

Footballers these days think they are some sort of gods that are above anyone and everyone ,when I read about the Chelsea youngsters and the way some was treating the staff it really did put me right of footballers ,yes I know lots won’t be like what these youngsters are like at Chelsea but the money these kids get it’s getting ridiculous earning thousands when they haven’t even achieved anything or even played for the 1st team .money is/has ruined the game for me

Him and Mido were both signing. I was proper excited at the time. Both fell over within a couple of days of each other.

How many bloody times were we supposed to be signing Mido ? .... seemed to crop up every three or four months !!

They had a good trio then - Carl Asaba and Robert Taylor, I think. Of which Asaba was the one who looked best at the time, and I think Taylor had already had a spell with us as a kid?
